Background: As an important index to measure the physical and mental health of college students, sleep quality is of great significance to their good living habits and lifelong health consciousness.Nowadays, the poor sleep quality of college students has become an fact, which has a negative impact on their study, life and other a,andts. Objective: To explore the comprehensive impact of physical activity, perceived pressure, and negative emotions on the sleep quality of college students,to provide empirical support and a theoretical basis for improving the sleep problems of college students.Method: Based on the cognitive-affective personality system theory, this study explored the influencing factors of sleep quality of college students from the perspective of an interaction model. The Pittsburgh Sleep Quality Index(PSQI),the Posit, and Negative Affect Scale(PANAS),the Perceived Stress Scale(PSS)and the International Physical Activity Questionnaire(IPAQ)were administered to 763 college students.SPSS 26.0 was used for descriptive statistics, correlation analysis, and other basic tests;PROCESS(version 4.0)plug-in was used to investigate the simple mediating and chain mediating effects of perceived pressure and negative emotion on physical activity and sleep quality of college students.Bootstrap test was conducted, and simple slope test was used for in-depth analysisResults:(1)There are significant differences in physical activity, perceived stress, negative emotions and sleep quality among college students in terms of gender, grade,BMI level, origin and parents’ educational level.Multiple comparisons after the event show that some of the group differences are significant.(2)The sleep quality score of college students was significantly negatively correlated with different intensity of physical activity(P<0.05),and significantly positively correlated with perceived pressure and negative emotion(P<0.05).The higher the level of physical activity, the better the quality of sleep; The higher the level of perceived stress and negative emotion, the worse the quality of sleep.(3)Physical activity can directly or indirectly affect the sleep quality of college students. The indirect influence path is as follows: the mediating effect of perceived pressure, whose mediating effect accounts for 12.54% of the total effect;the chain mediating effect of perceived pressure, and negative emotion, whose chain mediating effect accounts for 26.21% of the total effect.(4)In the chain mediation of perceived stress and negative emotions, gender variables can play a partial moderating role: boys are more likely to reduce their perceived stress through LPA,and girls are more likely to regulate their negative emotions by reducing perceived stress. Conclusion: Physical activity can both directly and indirectly enhance the sleep quality of college students by reducing negative emotions and perceived stress levels. The genvariablesable can play a partial mediating role in the chain effect of physical activity on the sleep quality,so the choice of sleep quality improvement strategies should be differentiated between men and women.Suggestion: Based on autonomous motivation and external factors,we should actively improve our physical activity level, face the stressors calmly, correctly assess our stress level, and reasonably reduce negative emotions,to effectively improve our sleep quality and reduce sleep problems.
