The campus environment of colleges and universities has outstanding educational functions.With the rapid development of higher education in the new era,the role of environmental education has been paid double attention by educators and campus planners.Although the concept of educational function has been introduced into the construction of colleges and universities at this stage,the campus material culture carried by some campus environments has not really played its educational function,and the expression of its educational function has not been accurately measured.And there is still room for further optimization,which is worth exploring and studying.From the perspective of environmental education,this paper comprehensively uses literature analysis,case analysis,mathematical statistics,Delphi method and field research method to study this issue.The research combs the existing research on environmental education,campus material culture and campus material culture education function by scholars in various related fields.On the basis of hidden curriculum and urban image theory,considering the history of running a school,the service life of the campus,the area occupied and the nature of running a school,Tianjin University(Weijin Road Campus),Tianjin University(Beiyangyuan Campus),Tianjin University of Finance and Economics,Tianjin University of Technology,Tianjin University of Traditional Chinese Medicine,Tianjin Normal University and Tianjin Institute of Physical Education are selected as the object of case study.Delphi method was used to conduct expert investigation,and the evaluation indexes of educational function of campus material culture were screened and determined,including four evaluation levels of ecological greening,historical culture,space construction and imageability.The results of expert evaluation were further analyzed by mathematical statistics method,so as to obtain the material and cultural situation of the selected case universities,and put forward research conclusions and feasible suggestions according to the results of evaluation.According to the research,there are still some problems in the construction of material culture in colleges and universities,such as emphasizing sensory utility,emphasizing practicability and neglecting educational function.Therefore,in the construction of campus material culture based on educational function,efforts should be made from the following four aspects :(1)Optimize ecological greening : improve the overall style of the campus,improve plant richness,strengthen green space accessibility,enhance landscape coordination,and enrich the intrinsic value of college material culture as a hidden curriculum;(2)Inheriting history and culture : creating the overall cultural atmosphere of the campus,improving the richness of the cultural landscape,connecting the urban context and style,and continuing the humanistic spirit of the university;(3)Create a variety of space : space design diversification,functional partition rationalization to meet the needs of teachers and students;(4)Improve the intentionality : connect the road traffic system,improve the identification system,create landmark buildings and nodes,form architectural styles and characteristics,and enhance the sense of belonging of teachers and students.Finally,the functions of aesthetic education,cultural education,moral education,psychological education and participatory education contained in university campus culture can be brought into full play,complementing the formal curriculum education of the school and helping the construction of first-class universities in China.This study provides a multidisciplinary perspective for the study of higher education,and provides feasible operational suggestions for the construction of university campus material culture based on the effective function of education.
