Research On The Threshold Effect Of Producer Services Agglomeration On The Global Value Chain Status Of China’s Manufacturing Industry

With the development of the trend of economic globalization,the international division of labor has been further refined,which makes international competition more intense,and global value chains have been continuously adjusted and reshaped in this dynamic process.Our country is a big manufacturing country.Manufacturing,as the main body of real economy,is the base on which a nation is built up,the instrument of rejuvenating a nation,and the foundation of making a country powerful.Therefore,promoting the highquality development of the manufacturing industry,and promoting the development of China’s manufacturing industry toward the mid and high-end links of global value chain is an important step to achieve high-quality development of China’s economy and build a modern economic system.Productive service industry is a knowledge-intensive industry with high value-added,low cost and low pollution.It can not only provide technical,financial and transport support for manufacturing and related industries,but also produce strong agglomeration and radiation effects.Therefore,promoting the concentrated development of producer service is an important way to improve the quality and efficiency of intermediate inputs in manufacturing,and is an inevitable choice in line with the China’s objectives of short-term economic growth and long-term structural adjustment.Based on the data published in the Statistical Yearbook of China’s Cities 2008-2018,this paper measures diversification agglomeration by using locational entropy to measure specialization agglomeration index and improved Heffendahl index.At the same time,we use the relevant data from the foreign trade database of the National Research Network from2008 to 2018 to measure the index of global value chain of our manufacturing industry by calculating the complexity of export technology.Finally,the panel data were validated by regression model and threshold model respectively using STATA.It is found that,on the whole,the specialization and diversification of productive services can promote the rise of manufacturing value chain in our country.From the point of view of specialization agglomeration,FDI constraints in productive services are included in the research scope and then pass the double threshold test,and the inverted U-shaped relationship is presented with first increase and then decrease,and the transport infrastructure is adopted as the single threshold test to promote and increase the relationship.From the point of view of diversification agglomeration,FDI across the threshold can strengthen the positive effect of FDI agglomeration on manufacturing GVC by including FDI constraints on productive services in the research scope and then passing the triple threshold test.Transportation infrastructure as a threshold variable passes the double threshold test and presents a catalytic and incremental relationship.Based on the results of theoretical and empirical research,this paper proposes some feasible suggestions.Firstly,we should adjust the layout of the professional and diversified agglomeration of productive services and give full play to the contribution of the agglomeration of productive services to the rise of the manufacturing value chain in China.Secondly,we should improve the transportation infrastructure step by step and control the level of foreign direct investment in productive services to a certain extent in order to exert the positive effect of the concentration of productive services on the rise of our manufacturing value chain.
