| As a comprehensive indicator, the sense of security not only fully reflects the individual’s living condition, but also reflects our society’s overall operation and social security condition. This year’s government Work report and the 20 th National Congress last year fully emphasized the important role of the social security system. It can be seen that basic medical insurance,as an indispensable part of our social security,is of great significance to residents’ sense of security.Based on the questionnaire data of China Household Tracking Survey(CFPS)in 2018,this paper explores the impact of basic medical insurance on residents’ sense of security from the perspective of health disparities. This is not only another test of previous research results, but also a profound exploration of the impact of basic medical insurance on residents’ sense of security. In this paper, the relevant literature is summarized and analyzed based on Maslow’s hierarchy of needs theory, prospect theory and social comparison theory.Combined with the relevant data of China Household Tracking Survey CFPS in 2018,the first step is to use the principal component factor analysis method to measure the variables of residents’ sense of security.Secondly, multiple regression model was used to analyze the impact of basic medical insurance on residents’ sense of security under different health levels. At the same time, whether to participate in insurance is extended to the level of medical security to investigate the impact of medical insurance coverage level on residents’ sense of security. In addition, the heterogeneity of the effects is discussed from the perspectives of age, gender, household registration and income. Finally,in order to avoid the endogeneity caused by sample self-selection,propensity score matching test was used to ensure the reliability and robustness of the final results. The results show that the basic medical insurance has a significant positive impact on residents’ sense of security, and the basic medical insurance has a consistent and significant positive impact on the sense of security of the groups with poor health level, medium and good health level, especially on the groups with poor health level. The effect on security that extends to basic health coverage is also positive. In terms of heterogeneity analysis, there are some differences in basic medical insurance based on the impact of health differences on security.Among young people, the effect of basic health insurance on safety was not significant regardless of health level; In the middle age group, the impact of basic medical insurance on the sense of security is significantly positive; In the older age group, there was a positive effect on older people with poor and moderate health levels.Basic medical insurance plays a certain role in improving the sense of security of men and women at different health levels, but the effect on men is stronger than that on women. For residents with agricultural household registration, basic medical insurance has a significant impact on their sense of security under various health levels; For non-agricultural residents, basic medical insurance has a strong effect on enhancing their sense of security, including those in poor health and those in average health.Among low-and middle-income residents, basic medical insurance has a strong role in enhancing the sense of security of residents with poor health and residents with moderate health.Among high-income residents, the effect is significant for those with good health. Finally, based on the relevant research results of this paper, countermeasures are proposed to further enhance residents’ sense of security, such as improving the payment level of basic medical insurance, targeted allocation of medical resources, strengthening the supervision of basic medical insurance system, etc. |
