As a driving force of national economic development, entrepreneurship has an important impact on national development and social employment. However, the high failure rate of entrepreneurship has always been an important concern in the field of entrepreneurship.Survey data shows that team-based entrepreneurship has become the main form of entrepreneurship. It has been proven that almost every entrepreneurial team has experienced a dissolution within five years.Entrepreneurial team disruption is an important cause of entrepreneurial failure. Therefore,it is of great theoretical and practical value to analyze the causes of entrepreneurial team dissolution. Most of the existing research has used regression methods to explore the correlation between single or several variables and entrepreneurial team dissolution. However, management practice proves that the causes of entrepreneurial team dissolution should be complex configurational relationships. Therefore,it is innovative to use a configurational approach to explore entrepreneurial team dissolution. In view of this, this paper first compiles domestic and international literature to summarize the six main influencing factors that lead to entrepreneurial team dissolution. In this research,a "theoretical perspective" strategy is adopted to achieve complete and independent collection of the conditional variables. The influencing factors include interest disputes, member competence, team relationship, team heterogeneity, business operation, and business management. On this basis, this research develops a model of the factors influencing the dissolution of entrepreneurial teams.Secondly, this paper collects 48 cases in China and the U.S.by means of secondary data collection. Finally, this paper explores the grouping of factors influencing the dissolution of entrepreneurial teams in China by means of fuzzy set qualitative comparative analysis and conducts robustness tests using the U.S.cases.The findings show that:(1)there are configurations that lead to the dissolution of entrepreneurial teams;(2)by analyzing the configurations in the Chinese case, this research derives four configurations of conditions for the dissolution of entrepreneurial teams, among which interest disputes and team relations are the core conditions that lead to the dissolution of entrepreneurial teams;(3)after replacing the sample with the U.S.case for robustness testing, this research finds that there are small changes in the core conditions due to the different environmental contexts. In the U.S.sample,the core conditions are team relations and the combination of interest dispute and business operation. However, after replacing the data, the central role of interest disputes and team relations remains largely unchanged,so the configurational results are robust. This research enriches the application of qualitative comparative analysis in areas related to entrepreneurial teams and entrepreneurial team dissolution. This study provides management responses and recommendations for corporate governance from the core conditions of entrepreneurial team dissolution in the United States and China, which are beneficial for long-term corporate development.
