| Over the past 40 years,China has created a magnificent miracle in the history of the world economy, becoming the second largest economy in the world.Under the impact of hyperinflation in 1989,the Asian financial crisis in 1997,the international financial crisis in 2008,and the COVID-19 in 2020,China has resolved risks again and again. The strong "resilience" behind it has largely become an important reason for China to create economic miracles. At the same time, urban areas,as an important focus for enhancing China’s economic resilience, external shocks also affect the urban landscape. The differences displayed behind different cities are precisely the role of economic resilience, which has become the key to achieving economic growth in cities.Based on this, this article aims to measure the economic resilience of 30 provincial capital cities(municipalities directly under the central government)in China, analyze the spatiotemporal differentiation characteristics of economic resilience, and further test its convergence,in order to promote the coordinated development of cities in China. In order to comprehensively understand the economic resilience of 30 provincial capital cities(municipalities directly under the central government)in China, this section uses the entropy method to measure the economic resilience of 30 provincial capital cities(municipalities directly under the central government)in the country.Research has found that:(1)the economic resilience level of 30 provincial capital cities(municipalities directly under the central government)in China has been increasing year by year, but the overall number of cities above 0.50 is not large;(2)There is a significant difference in urban economic resilience between different regions;(3)The economic resilience level of Beijing,Shanghai, and Guangzhou has been consistently high, which is consistent with their economic development and growth situation.Next,in order to understand the spatiotemporal differentiation characteristics and differences of economic resilience, this section uses ArcGIS software to depict the spatiotemporal differentiation characteristics of economic resilience in 30 provincial capital cities(municipalities directly under the central government)in China, and uses the Thiel index to quantitatively measure the differences in economic resilience. The research results indicate that:(1)the resilience of urban economy gradually increased between 2003 and 2019,and its differential distribution pattern showed a temporal evolution trend from "towering" to "flat";(2)There is a clear spatial differentiation characteristic of urban economic resilience, characterized by the decline of the eastern region and the rise of the central and western regions;(3)The overall difference in economic resilience continued to increase during the inspection period, and regional differences were the main source. To further reveal the differences in economic resilience, this section tests the convergence of urban economic resilience from two aspects:absolute and conditional convergence. The study found that:(1)the economic resilience of 30 provincial capital cities(municipalities directly under the central government)in China did not pass the absolute and absolute convergence tests throughout the entire sample inspection period;(2)There is conditional convergence in the economic resilience of cities across the country and within the eastern, central, and western regions, and the influencing factors of cities in different regions are different.Based on the above research conclusions, this article proposes specific suggestions to promote the improvement of urban economic resilience level and shorten the economic resilience gap between cities in China from three levels:national, regional, and urban. |
