Technology innovation is important for the future growth of the nation as well as the enhancement of the core competitiveness of enterprises.The total number of domestic patent applications and licenses has recently ranked among the highest in the world,but urgent solutions are required for the issues of light weight of patents and bottleneck of core technologies.The shadow of technological lock-in,however,is present at every turn as businesses are encouraged to innovate technologically.This study attempts to offer assistance for the in-depth promotion of the cultivation of enterprises’ core competitiveness,innovation motivation,innovation capability upgrading,and other crucial topics of innovation strategy by analyzing the causes of various types of technological lock-in,measuring various types of technology lock-in,and examining the impact of technology lock-in on technological innovation of enterprises.This thesis builds the panel data of the enterprise’s technological lock-in indicator system from 2015 to2020 based on the formation processes of active technological lock-in and passive technological lock-in,and refers to the indicator designs of the two in existing research.It then obtains the measurement results of technological lock-in by using the weighted scoring of common factors extracted from principal component analysis.Conduct additional empirical study on the effects of enterprise technological lock-in.To examine the impact of technological lock-in on technological innovation of enterprises,the Tobit fixed effect model is first used,and the varied results of this impact are discussed based on the types of property rights enjoyed by listed companies and the regions in which they are located.Second,using the regulatory effect model,it is examined how intellectual property protection affects business technology innovation and technological lock-in.The robustness study is then completed by swapping out the dependent variables and economic models.The effect of technological lock-in on technological innovation of enterprises is subjected to sensitivity analysis using the protection of intellectual property rights as a comparative variable.The findings of the study support the following conclusions:(1)Enterprises in different high-tech industries,property rights and regions all have active technology lock-in and passive technology lock-in to a certain extent.Technology lock-in in some high-tech industries is on the rise;The overall trend of active and passive technology locking in state-owned and private enterprises is upward and downward,respectively;In the eastern region,active technology locking is dominant and both active technology locking and passive technology locking are showing a steady upward trend.In the central and western regions,passive technology locking is dominant and shows an overall downward trend,and active technology locking is not prominent.(2)In the eastern region,active technological lock-in is currently predominant and to a reasonably serious degree;in recent years,both active and passive technological lock-in have shown a steady upward tendency.While active technology locking is not common,passive technology locking predominates in the central and western regions and has experienced a general downward tendency in recent years.From 2016 to 2017,each region’s primary technological lock-in decreased considerably.(2)The impact of technological lock-in on enterprise technology innovation is substantial and delayed,with a trend of first growth and then decline.(3)Technology locking has a more severe inhibiting effect on company technological innovation in the grouping of state-owned enterprises,but its lag effect is relatively weak,whereas the situation is the reverse in the grouping of private enterprises.(4)The central and western province grouping and the eastern province grouping both exhibit a certain time lag effect in the negative effects of technological lock-in on enterprise technological innovation,but the change trend in the two is different.While the trend is steadily increasing in the central and western provinces,it is increasing first in the eastern province and then decreasing.(5)Intellectual property protection regulates business technology innovation and technological lock-in.The detrimental effect of technological lock-in on enterprise technology innovation is lessened with the strengthening of intellectual property protection.According to the research’s findings,recommendations are made:(1)for entrepreneurs,they should comprehend the causes of technological lock-in,promptly identify their own problems with technological lock-in,and actively try technology innovation in combination with their existing resources to avoid getting caught in the muck of technological lock-in;(2)for the government,they should strengthen the protection of intellectual property rights and adopt differentiated policies in response to varying degrees of technological lock-in and shifting trends.The research presented in this thesis adds to the body of knowledge on enterprise technological innovation and offers a fresh perspective on how to enhance the business environment for technological innovation,actively foster creative businesses,and enhance enterprise capacity for technological innovation.
