| Cotton is one of the most important cash crops in Sub-Saharan Africa,providing a source of income for millions of farmers across the region.This study aimed to analyze the impact of agricultural economic relationships,specifically in the cotton industry,on the development of three African countries,Central African Republic,Madagascar,and Chad,with China.China has emerged as a key player in cotton production and exportation in African countries during the last decades,with bilateral economic cooperation.The quantitative approach used in this study involved the use of numerical data to answer the research questions.The researchers collected data from various sources and the Econometric model was used to measure the Chinese influence on cotton industry in Africa.Particular attention was given on cotton production as the dependent variable.The findings from the quantitative data analysis revealed that cotton production was a significant contributor to the economies of all three countries,providing income and employment for thousands of farmers.The cotton export values were highest in Central African Republic,followed by Chad and Madagascar: mean export value of cotton from Central African Republican was 2875179.80(± 3602755.549).From Madagascar,the cotton export values ranged from 188992 to 1001042,with the range of 812058.On the other hand,the mean export value for cotton from Chad was5541014.75(±7485464.871).All the tests suggested that data for cotton export values from all the three countries were normally distributed.Cotton is widely recognized as one of the most significant cash crops in Africa.The study also concludes that cotton production in Africa has been characterized by low productivity and efficiency.The inefficiencies in cotton production have had negative impacts on the economies of many African countries.The study shows that China has provided various forms of assistance to African nations,including financial aid,infrastructure development,and technical assistance.The sector has faced many challenges,including low productivity,poor quality,and lack of modernization,which have hindered its growth and competitiveness.Ensuring safe and quality cotton for exportation,Improving the quality of cotton that African countries export could potentially increase their income and competitiveness in the global market.There are 27 figures,7 tables,and 81 references in this thesis. |
