The Comparative Advantage Of Agricultural Production In Yucheng City In The Context Of Food Security

Yucheng is a large grain-producing county,located in the Yellow and Huaihai Plain,and ranks first in Shandong Province in terms of arable land protection,making it an important grain-producing area.With years of efforts,Yucheng has become a provincial demonstration county for the whole county promotion of high-standard farmland.Therefore,it is of practical significance to study the comparative advantages of agricultural production in Yucheng,in order to adjust the planting structure and layout of agricultural production,improve agricultural production and ensure food security.Based on the theory of comparative advantage,this paper uses the scale advantage index measurement,efficiency advantage index measurement,and comprehensive advantage index measurement methods to analyze the problems faced by wheat,corn,and soybean production in Yucheng by comparing the planted area,unit production,and comprehensive index of major agricultural products in Yucheng over the ten-year period 2011-2021,to explore the advantages and disadvantages of wheat,corn,and soybeans in Yucheng,and to propose countermeasures for the development of agricultural production in Yucheng.The study found that the advantage of wheat production in Yucheng city is the high scale advantage and comprehensive comparative advantage,while the disadvantage is the low efficiency advantage index,and the seedling rate,appearance and yield need to be strengthened;the same as wheat crop,the advantage of corn crop production is the scale comparative advantage and comprehensive comparative advantage,while the disadvantage is the weak efficiency comparative advantage,and the moisture content,nutrient content and yield need to be strengthened;soybean crop production The advantage of soybean crop production is to have the comparative advantage of efficiency and higher yield.The disadvantage is that the scale comparative advantage and the overall comparative advantage index are low.The study concluded that in order to give full play to the comparative advantages of Yucheng’s major agricultural production.First,the planting structure of corn,wheat and soybeans should be adjusted and optimized;second,the planting area of crops with comparative advantages should be expanded;third,the protection of arable land should be strengthen;fourth,the contribution rate of agricultural technology should be improved;fifth,the agricultural capital investment should be increased;sixth,the government support should be increased;seventh,the construction of “tons and a half of grain” production capacity should be promoted.In order to be able to more fully promote the comparative advantage of agricultural production in Yucheng City,and promote the effective shaping of its competitiveness in Dezhou City and Shandong Province.
