Jiaozhou Bay is a gulf opening to Yellow Sea,which is enclosed by land of Qingdao and a connecting line of two points,the Tuandao Tou(36°02′36″N, 120°6′49″E)and the Jiaozi Stone of Xuejia island(36°00′53″N,120°17′30″E1)There are harbors that can support vessels with weight of l 00 million ton in the Bay.and an industry zone surrounding it has developed into a good condition.All of these geatly promoted Qingdao's construction in Economy,Socialization and Culture.Therefore,it is very significant to research the Bay scientifically.The high resolution SPOT-5 HRV images are firstly used to the marine function zoning of the Qingdao city among the same work in China.SPOT-5 HRV provides two kinds of data-Muti-spectral and panchromatic imagery。whose resolutions are respectively l 0m and 2.5m.Besides,there are other data such as DEM.DRG and bathymetric and sedimentary resources for the study of this area.RS and GIS technology were applied to process these data.The objectives and working results obtained from thii paper are mainly expressed as follow :(1)Coordinate transformation is the basis for the seamless merging of Multi—sources spatial data.Many geological and geographic maps which have different Coordinate systems and Projections were collected in this work.So.it is necessary to unify them to an identical system.This work is performed by using of computer software(Geoimage and Mapinfo)and the Geodetic Datum of Xian l980 and Projection of Gauss . Kruger 6 - 40 is chosen finally.(2)Remote sensing imagery of SPOT-5 is very suitable for programming in Coastal area because of its characteristics with detailed spatial information and enough spectrums.Under the condition of careful field surveying and SPOT-5 data structure analyzing,the imagery was processed with geometric correction,radiation enhancement,and spectral combination.The fusion of high and low resolution images is also performed through three different methods。which are Primary Component Analysis(PCA),HIS transformation and Algorithm computation.After qualitative and quantitative analysis,the PCA is determined as the best method in keepiIig spectral information for further study.(3)Marine functional zoning is based on the natural attributions of sea and its adj acent land conditions,so information,such as shoreline,islands,ri vers,harbors, and other natural and man-made creatures must be illustrated in a digit map.This work absorbed these geographic objects from SPOT-5 imagery and other secondary resources,and then created a vector map in support of further marine functional zoning.At the same time,a lot of newest geographic information is achieved.For example.the total shoreline length of Qingdao is 81 6.98km;its amount of islands is 70.(4)The high reality 3D visualization of Remote sensing images is the researching...
