With the constant advancement of society, basketball has become one of the mostpopular and favorite sports. The basketball makes up a large proportion of optionalcourse chosen by boys at colleges and universities with physical education major.Modern basketball sports has already become a comprehensive contest among severalrespects of abilities including technique, tactics, physical ability as well aspsychological ability and state, instead of the contest between technique and tactics.This demands an athlete of good extensibility and synchronization at the time ofdoing basketball sports. Therefore, during basketball teaching and training, greatimportance must be attached to training of the joint flexibility of the athlete, inparticular, training of the ligament flexibility of the waist, crotch, shoulder and anklejoint.Modern competitive sports have introduced plenty of advanced training methodsfrom foreign countries, but no colleges and universities bring these methods to theirphysical education and teaching. Basketball at present has become a kind of sports inhigher level, requiring continuous development and innovation. In addition, it alsodemands either the physical education teachers or the coaches not only utilize thetraditional training methods or experienced training, but unremittingly renew theirknowledge and thoughts, borrow the outstanding and reasonable training method andconcept from modern physical exercises, and explore numerous aspects in thebasketball field so as to offer better service for basketball teaching.Based on a large quantity of literature and research data concerning to PNF pullingreferred to by the writer, this essay is written from the viewpoint of training theflexibility by taking advantage of PNF stretching and pulling. The essay mainlymakes use of such research methodologies as literature and data collection, expertinterview, experimentation, mathematical statistics, logical analysis, inviting60juniorstudents from Yunnan Agricultural University who select basketball as the optionalcourse as the study subjects, classifying them into three groups at random, makingeight-week experimental study on them by means of static pulling method, dynamicpulling method and PNF pulling method respectively. The study concludes as follows:First, static pulling method, dynamic pulling method and PNF pulling method have acertain effect on improving the flexibility of anteflexion and rear protraction of shoulder joint of the students selecting basketball as the optional course, with thespecific embodiment on the expanding movement angle of anteflexion and rearprotraction of shoulder joint.Second, static pulling method, dynamic pulling method and PNF pulling methodhave a certain effect on improving the flexibility of anteflexion and rear protraction ofhip joint, as well as sit and reach of the students selecting basketball as the optionalcourse, with the specific embodiment on the expanding movement angle ofanteflexion and rear protraction of hip joint as well as the improvement on sit andreach.Third, comparing with the two former methods, PNF pulling method enjoys thebest effect on improving the flexibility of shoulder joint and hip joint of the studentsselecting basketball as the optional course, with the most obvious effect onanteflexion and uplift of straight arms along with front protraction of straight legs. Itproves that PNF pulling method has a better effect on the shoulder joint and hip jointof the students selecting basketball as the optional course than the traditional staticand dynamic pulling method.
