With the development of computer technology, the popularity of high-performance computer, the wider use of the advanced development tools and the application of the function library of the standard graphs, visualization technology has also been developed rapidly. Now, the basic algorithm of post-processing system has already been formed, but it is not perfect enough that it has space to improve. In addition, the current research of CAD / CAE integration technology makes it a big trend for the development of the finite element software. In order to enable users to easily operate the software, the integration technology of the post-processing system is put on the agenda. The project is supported by Chinese NC special projects (No.2009ZX04013-031)and National Natural Science Foundation of China (50905067). On the independent platform of SolidWorks, the two post-processing systems of StampingWorks-FAX and StampingWorks-BEX were both accomplished.In this paper, the development of the integration technology of CAD/CAE at home and abroad has been summarized. The key technologies of post-processing system development and the related technologies of the secondary development of SolidWorks have been studied. Compared with the advantages and disadvantages of the BlankWorks and 3DQuickForm systems, a post-processing system for the self-developed StampingWorks is designed to meet the market demands.Combining with the needs of users, the function and performance of the system were analyzed in details. A reasonable data structure was created. A system framework which meets the function and performance requirements was established. Common physical display technologies (including stress, strain, thickness distribution diagram and FLD diagram) were provided. The above all enables this system to meet the basic needs of users. On this basis, the paper deeply researched the generation mechanism and the category of the slip lines on automobile panels. The system can exactly predict the generation of the slip lines which provide powerful references to reduce the defects of slip lines. In order to decrease the time cost, the function of auto-generating analysis report was also realized.The accomplishment of post-processing system represents that it has truly realized the seamless integration with SolidWorks. It provides an entire operating software, for users, including mold design, mold analysis and results view. Finally, taking the oven cover for example, through comparison with the experimental results, it has been proved that the system could exactly simulate the pressing formability of sheet metal.
