This study targets a highly innovative pattern sewing machine of gantry rotatestructure which is able to rotate its arm and bed independently when sewing patterns. Thismulti-axis control machine evolves from the traditional pattern sewing machine and has ahigh degree of automation. The Significant feature of this machine which is also the maindifference with the traditional one is the separation of its arm and bed. Its arm and bedrotate according to the direction of next stitch, so that the stitches are beautiful in alldirection. Meanwhile, the separation of the arm and bed provides a larger sewing area forthis kind of sewing machine.The study is mainly focus on four aspects: the overall mechanical structure, hardwaresystems, software systems and the key algorithm.A solution is proposed to the problem that there are defects in the sewing track of thetraditional pattern sewing machine. And then, the structure model is established for themachine of gantry rotate structure. The key transmission structure of this machine such asthe rotating structure of the arm and bed, reciprocating structure of the needle bar andbobbin, feeding structure in XY directions and elevating structure of the arm are studied.On this basis, the multi-axis motion model of this machine has been set up.The control model of NC+PC and overall design are bringing up according to theneeds analysis. Control system of this machine is made up by hardware platform ofman-machine interface and hardware platform of motion control and this upper and lowerhardware platform are researched.The Embedded operating system Windows CE has been rebuild, and the configurationand transplantation of this software platform have been studied. The architecture andmodules of the software which is run in upper hardware platform have been analyzed.Focus has been put on the lower software which is based on advanced motion controllanguage. And the key focus is the process of sewing motion control.To produce beautiful stitches, sewing stitches must be uniform. B-spline based sewingtrack is difficult to divide uniformly. In this regard, different kind of dividing method hasbeen researched before come to a genetic algorithm which successfully solves this problem.Finally, sewing performance testing is carried out, and the results are very successful.
