Wang Senran was a person of comprehensive thought in Chinese education of the1920s. His thought about Chinese education was not only the summary of his education practices, but also the combination between traditional education thought and foreign education thought by influences of Cai Yuanpei’s education thought. This study tries to discover the reasons and values for his education thought by combining educational theory and practice with Wang Senran’s lifetime, and background of era.The whole paper has been set into four sections:the first section focuses on expatiating on Wang Senran’s ideology of Chinese language teaching and the reasons for formation. The second section introduces Wang Senran’s medium-function and comprehensive-function viewpoints. The third section makes use of methods of literature research, content analysis and comprehensive research, etc. to indicate his multilevel and three-dimensional educational characteristic. The last section discoveries Wang Senran’s thought about Chinese language teaching material by the methods of contrastive research.
