Observation On Patients Of Asthenospermia And Kidney-Yang Deficiency Treated By Warming And Recuperating Kidney-Yang

BackgroundAsthenospermia, as known as poor sperm motility, means that the progressive motility rate is below the reference value, refered to the male semen quality in laboratory test results. According to a World Health Organization survey, approximately 15% of couples have fertility problems, and 50% of them are caused by abnormal semen quality in male infertility. Sperm motility is a important content of semen quality, which can describes objectively the quality of sperm, related closely with pregnancy rate. Modern researches found that the proportion of poor sperm motility in semen quality was highest than the others, besides, in the past 20 years, once male sperm motility decreased, asthenospermia became critical issues affecting male fertility.It’s a great significance to increase the sperm motility. Bushen shengjing decoction is my tutor’s experience in treating patients of asthenospermia, which has been shown to improve significantly sperm motility of asthenospermia patients in our pilot study.But the decoction on the curative effect of TCM syndrome and its comparsion with current drugs for asthenospermia need further research.ObjectivesBasing on the result of preliminary study and optimization of warming and recuperating kidney-Yang, the randomized, controlled study resrarch is designed to observe the safety and the efficacy of Bushenshengjing Decoction on sperm motility and TCM syndrome of patients of kidney-Yang deficiency and asthenospermia, comparing with the oral Yougui Capsule.Methods64 cases of asthenospermia and kidney-Yang deficiency were included in this study and divided randomly into the treatment group and the control group, with 32 cases in each group according to 1:1 ratio. The cases in the treatment group took Bushenshengjing Decoction based on the therapy of warming and recuperating kidney-Yang, while those in the control group recieved oral Yougui Capsule for 3 months, and two groups were investigated with their total sperm motilities, progressive sperm rates and the scores of TCM syndrome recorded before and after the treatment courses, besides, the adverse reactions were recorded during the course. All data was statistically analyzed.ResultsFrom March 2015 to February 2016, A total of 64 patients of asthenospermia and kidney Yang-deficiency were included in the study, and 59 patients finished the study at last with 2 patients dropped out in the treatment group and 3 cases out in the control group, in other words,30 patients in the treatment group and 29 cases in the control group were inclueded. During treatment course, there were no adverse reactions in the two groups. Compared patientsof the two groups by age, duration of disease, total sperm motility, and progressive motility rate, score of Chinese medicine symptom, there’s no significant differences (P>0.05) with a comparable baseline. After the treatment course, the total sperm motilities, and rates of progressive motility in the treatment group were significantly higher than those before the treatment course(P＜0.01). The progressive motility rates of the control group are significantly better than those before treatment, there was a statistically difference(P＜0.05), while the total sperm motility compared with those before treatment weren’t statistically different (P>0.05). After treatment course, the total sperm motility and the progressive motility rates in the treatment group were better than those in the control group, there’s a significant difference (P＜0.05).The efficacy of sperm motility in the treatment group was better than that in the control group, the difference is obvious(P＜0.05). The scores of TCM symptom after treatment course were lower than those before treatment in two groups, the differences were significant (P＜0.01). The scores of TCM symptom after the treatment course in the treatment group were obvious lower than those in the control group, there was a significant difference (P＜0.05). The efficacy of relieving the TCM symptom in the treatment group was better than that in the control group, there was a significant difference (P<0.05).Conclusion1.The therapy of Bushenshengjing Decoction could significantly improve the sperm motility of the patients of kidney-Yang deficiency and asthenospermia, and relieve their TCM symptom significantly.2. the efficacy of the Bushenshengjing Decoction is better than the Yougui Capsule.3.The decoction in treating kidney Yang-deficiency type patients with asthenospermia is safe and causes no adverse reactions.
