A Report On The Translation Of Excerpts From Energy Economics:Markets,History And Policy

Based on English-Chinese translation of Energy Economics: Markets,History and Policy(excerpt)and on the study of English for Science and Technology(EST)text style,this translation practice tries to convey the information of source text faithfully under the guidance of communicative translation strategy to target language readers.Meanwhile,this practice can also strengthen the translator’s translation ability.This translation report is divided into four parts.The first part is task description,in which the task background,objectives and significance are discussed.The second part describes the process,including professional knowledge learning,the building of a glossary of technical terminology,analysis of EST texts,expression and revision,etc.The third part is the key portion of this report,in which some important and difficult cases at the lexical,syntactic and discourse levels are discussed in detail from the perspective of communicative translation theory.This translation work will not only promote the necessity of using clean energy,but also facilitate the exchange in clean energy field,thus promoting the development of clean energy.In addition,it also informs the public of serious results caused by climate change,thus raising public awareness of environmental protection.At the same time.It is hoped that this translation report can provide a certain theoretically and practically reference to translation of EST text in the future.
