A Report On English-chinese Translation Of "Blending Hydrogen Into Natural Gas Pipeline Networks:A Review Of Key Issues"

This report is based on the English-Chinese translation of “Blending Hydrogen into Natural Gas Pipeline Networks: A Review of Key Issues”,sponsored by the United States Department of Energy.Though published in 2013,the paper is still regarded as an important reference material in the field of hydrogen energy.Entrusted by Beijing SinoHy Energy CO.Ltd,the author got the opportunity to translate this scientific paper into Chinese.According to the rigorous,objective and formal stylistic features of the scientific and technological texts,as well as the purpose of translation,this report gives a detailed analysis of the translation guided by the three principles of Skopos Theory.This report is divided into five parts,and the first part is the Task Description,and mainly introduces the background information of the translation task,the style of the original text and the significance of the translation project;The second part gives a brief description of the translation process,including pre-translation preparations,difficulties during translation and proofreading and revision.The third part is the theoretical framework,which mainly introduces the three principles of Skopos Theory in this translation practice.The fourth part is about case analysis,and different translation methods are used to solve the difficulties of terms,long and difficult sentences and discourse cohesion according to the features of the source text,such as conversion of parts of speech,addition and omission.The fifth part is summary,which is focused on the gains and losses of the translation practice.It’s hoped that this report can shed some light on translation of similar texts.
