Part I Adiponectin levels in polycystic ovary syndrome and its relationship to endocrine and metabolismObjective To investigate the relationship of adiponectin to endocrine and metabolism in women with polycystic ovary syndrome (PCOS)Methods Serum levels of inhibinB on cycle day 3~5 were determined by specific double antibody radioimmunoassay (RIA) both in PCOS group and in controls , and relationship of adiponectin to body mass index (BMI), insulin, glucose, triglycerdes (TG), sex hormone binding globulin (SHBG), testosterone (T), luteinizing hormone to follicle stimulating hormone ratio (LH/FSH) were analyzed. Results Mean (±SEM) concentrations of adiponectin were decreasd (P<0.01= in PCOS (10.6±3.5) mg/L than controls (14.5±4.8)mg/L. Moreover, adiponectin levers were lower (P<0.01= in obese PCOS(8.26±2.7) mg/L than none-obese PCOS(11.2±3.9)mg/L. Adiponectin levers in both PCOS groups have statistically significant (P<0.01= when compared to controls. In PCOS women, nonparametric correlations analysis demonstrated that BMI (r=-0.453,P<0.01=, INS (r=-0.344,P=0.017), TG (r=-0.393,P=0.006) ,...
