The research demonstrates the conjugal relation in the Tang dynasty based on a lot of particular couples’ lives using materials such as poems, essays, laws, regulations, documents, novels, biographies ecetra.The excavated epigraphs contain valuable imformation of ordinary people’s family lives, especially women’s lives.This dissertation mainly use excavated epigraphs to illustrate the marital life in the Tang dynasty.The study focuses not only on the conjugal relation defined by feudalism rites and laws,but also on certain couple examples in the set of their clans. This is the comprehensive study of women, history, law, customs, culture in the Tang dynasty.The dissertation consists of7chapters. Chapter1is about wives’ virtue and confined-in-home life. Chapter2is about how housekeeping activities effect the conjugal relation. Chapter3is about couple’s role and position in disciplining slaves. Chapter4is to study couple’s economical activities.Chapter5is about how medical activities effect the conjugal relation.Chapter6is to observe wives’ knowledge and wisdom in couple’s lives and fates. Chapter7is to study how the father-and-daughter relationship influence daughters’ conjual relation.
