The Amendment To The Meanings And Recordings Of The Epigraph During Emperor Yonghui's Reign In Tang Dynasty

As evacuated documents,the epigraph has a unique value different from handed-down documents.This irreplaceable value differs in contents,forms and other aspects,from other evacuated documents like inscriptions on tortoise shell of the Shang Dynasty,inscriptions on ancient bronze objects,bamboo slip and silk,books written from the 5~thh century to the11~thh century in the Mogao Grottoes in Dunhuang.The epigraph in Tang Dynasty is the most outstanding of its kind,whose value can not be measured.It contains the life in all aspects,including politics,economy,military,official positions in all dynasties,ancient geography,national reunification,migration of population,names,ancient laws and regulations,manners and customs,ideologies,moral values,and astronomy and calendar.That's why it has always been the study focus of millions of scholars,and countless research has been done.However,for lack of systematic research,there still remain some problems needed to be dealt with.My essay,whose research is mainly on the epigraph during Emperor Yonghui's reign in Tang Dynasty,is developed on the following three aspects.First,it makes textual research and explanations on the Chinese characters whose meanings or structures are indefinite,including the ones with false or no textual research and explanations;Second,it amends the false recording and wrong information,and makes relevant additional explanation and supplement to the epigraph during Emperor Yonghui's reign in Tang Dynasty;Third,it makes a systematic summary of the typical variant Chinese characters in the epigraph during Emperor Yonghui's reign in Tang Dynasty,and completes the Chart on Variant Forms of Chinese Characters in Epigraph in this period.The essay consists of four chapters.The first chapter is the introduction,which describes the subject,the background,the status quo,the scope,the method and ways of research.The second chapter is the textual research and explanation on knotty Chinese characters during Emperor's reign in Tang Dynasty,including the misinterpretaion part and words without textual research and explanation.The third chapter is the rectification and complement of the annotation of the epigraph during Emperor Yonghui's reign in Tang Dynasty,including the amendment of the false recording,the addition and correction of the missing recording,and the amendment of the false information.The last chapter is the Chart of Variant Chinese Characters in Epigraph During Emperor Yonghui's reign in Tang Dynasty.The research results of the essay is relatively valuable for reference on the collation and research in the epigraph in Tang Dynasty and the research in Chinese characters in modern times.
