On the African continent, ancient Egyptians created a brilliant civilization, so the Egyptians naturally came to be the representative of the African civilization in the ancient world. But along the upper reaches of the Nile region, Nubians also created a special form of civilization. Sometimes the civilization of Nubians was ignored and did not get too much attention by people. In fact, the relationship between ancient Egypt and Nubia has never been stopped throughout the history. Although at the majority of the time Egypt plundered and conquered the Nubians, whom was the only competitor of Egypt and developed quietly in the upper Nile region. Between the relationship of Egyptian and Nubian,"Viceroy of Nubia" played a very important role and became the middleman between Egypt and Nubia’s contact."Viceroy of Nubia" promoted the relationship between these two civilization’s exchanges. This dissertation is a study which based on the official title "Viceroy of Nubia", then try to explore the relationship between Egypt and Nubia. The whole dissertation has four chapters.Chapter one:Focused on the different types of ancient Egyptian documents, after reading and classifying the records of the royal inscriptions and official autobiographical on Nubians respectively, we found the records on Nubians were totally different, then author try to analyze the real meaning hided that two kinds of seemingly contradictory records.Chapter two:Review the history of relationship between Egypt and Nubia from the Old Kingdom Period to the Second Intermediate Period, analysis the background, explore the reason why "Viceroy of Nubia" was the vital choice for Egyptian King in dealing with the diplomatic affairs concerning Nubia.Chapter three:Explore the role of "Viceroy of Nubia" in the government of New Kingdom Egypt."Viceroy of Nubia" took in charge the commercial between Egypt and Nubia, It is the deputy of the Egyptian king in Nubia. During the rule of the "Viceroy of Nubia", Egypt’s diplomacy toward Nubia was abandoned the simple plunder and slaughter, broke the diplomacy of defense and monopoly of economic on the Nile region. During the New Kingdom period, the Egyptian temple has the function of economic center and fully control of Nubia. In administrative aspect,"Viceroy of Nubia" is the highest official of Egyptian administration in Nubia. It is the most powerful man who supported Egyptian king outside Egyptian land. On the contrary, the power of the "Viceroy of Nubia" was too strong to threat the kingship, especially when kingship was weak."Viceroy of Nubia" rebelled against the king and made the control of Nubia come to an end. In culturally,"Viceroy of Nubia" took the responsibility of making the Nubian to "Egyptianized". During the ruling time of "Viceroy of Nubia", Nubia achieved a wide range of" Egyptianization". Nubian not only adopted the culture of ancient Egypt but also made the Egyptian culture more glorious.Chapter four:Discuss the situation after the rule of "Viceroy of Nubia" in Nubia, then describe the process of rising "Nubian Dynasty". These "wretched man" in Egyptian royal inscription became the Egyptian king. Nubian rebelled Egyptian and made a black "Nubian Dynasty". But Nubian king was not destroyer of Egyptian culture, they took the responsibility of succeeding Egyptian civilization.They rebuilt large Amun temples and revival domestic architectures, resisted the attack from Assyria, delayed the footsteps of Egyptian fall into the rule of Near East power.As a conclusion, based on the research of "Viceroy of Nubia", reviewing the history of relationship between Egypt and Nubia, which we found Nubia and Nubian’s civilization, was not minor civilization than ancient Egyptian. They were the only strong competitor on the African continent.
