Case Research On China Manufacturing Radical Technology Innovation Mechanism

Radical technology innovation is becoming a sort of increasingly relying on technology innovation to enhance the ability of independent technology innovation of Chinese enterprises and leap forward in technology development, and it is of strategic significance to accelerate the development of strategic emerging industry, to build an innovation oriented country, and to develop an innovation-driven economy. Breakthrough technology innovation is a long-term high risk technological business process, which is based on a set of scientific or engineering principle which is the main basis and the main driving force completely different from current mainstream ones, but it can greatly enhance the product performance or creat new products, may deep impact on existing market or industry, or creat a fresh market or industry, and will better meet customer demand. While incremental technology innovation often achieves technology innovation through cumulative continuous technical improvement on existing technology track or in the given technical paradigm,which is used by most enterprises and the most common way of technology innovation. Compared with incremental technology innovation, the main characteristics of breakthrough technology innovation is:the toughest one, the highest investment, long period, higher yield, the highest risk, the lowest success rate.The vast majority of enterprises may think radical technology innovation as a dangerous one and shunned, the main reason lies in that the law of radical technology innovation has not been understood and grasped perfectly, and effective breakthrough technology innovation mechanism which reflects the nature of the regular pattern failed to build. therefore, the central issue of my research is to explore and find out the effective commercialization mechanism,which can promote radical technology innovation successful.My doctoral dissertation has scientifically researched on the theory of breakthrough technology innovation and related theories, taken radical technology innovation of manufacture as the research object, deeply studied the main factors to influence the successful radical technology innovation and effective mechanism of radical technology innovation successful commercialization, and drawn the conclusion through case studies and cross case comparison study to verify, improve, develop these theories. The major findings are as follows:The first is that the main factors that affecting radical technology innovation are radical technology, radical marketing and venture capital. Radical technology innovation is a overall long-term and collaborative activities of corporate, but the three factors are more strategic and decisive. Radical technology is the main basis of radcial technology innovation and the basic motive, radical marketing mainly directs market development and achieves value of technology innovation, which often works in coordination with radical technology, venture capital is a kind of long-term equity investment which mainly involves in investing in high risk and high profit enterprises.The second is that the main mediators of radical technology innovation are radical product and business model. Radical product is fruit of the innovation, through which is successfully sold to customers to achieve radical technology innovation value so as to achieve success of the innovation. Business model is a business system which may efficiently helps to explore, create, transfer and acquire radical innovation value. The radical product may chiefly carry research and development logic chain in the proccess of radical technology innovation,while business model may mainly bear business logic chain in that proccess. The radical product is a materialization intermediary of the innovation, while business model is a business one of the same innovation. The radical product and business mode are cooperatively promoting the formation mechanism of radical technological innovation, in the process of interaction, collaboration,and conflict between business logic chain and breakthrough technology development logic chain, so as to accelerating radcial technology innovation development.The third is that in the process of radical technology innovation, radical technology, radical marketing and venutre capital push forward the development of radical technology innovation, affect innodvation performance via intermediary function of radical products and business models, and form the commercial mechanism of radical technology innovation in the course of interaction among them, which is an effective mechanism to promote the successful development of radical technology innovation.The main innovation of my dissertation is:The first is that I has proposed the integration of the mechanism framework of radical technology innovation, and hold that core technology, supporting technology, complementary technology are symbiotic development,which presents a theory and practice guide to further research and improving success rate of radical technology innovation commercialization.The second is that I has adviced that business model is composed of the interaction of the internal value creation system module, the supplier value creation system module, customer value creation system module, external complementary value creation module, business model is one of the most important mechanisms which promotes breakthrough technological innovation.The third is that I has thought that radcial marketing capability consists of leading user development capacity, radical value transfer ability and innovative ability of market development, this three kinds of ability should be focus on to foster so as to accelerating the radical marketing capability development.
