The emergence of International competitiveness is the produtct of the world economic pattern change and the evolution, is an important manifestation of world economic integration process accelerated. Industrial international competitiveness is derived from the international competitiveness, from the perspective of input and output, and based on the comparison and evaluation of international competitiveness for a country’s industry, and the analysis of industrial development law, finally, we can find the main factors affecting the international competitiveness of industry, and provide corresponding recommendations to improve the international competitiveness of industry. China is the largest country for population in the world, the food processing industry has the duty to provide security for citizens, health, food nutrition, and it is also the basic industry of the national economy and people’s livelihood normal operation, but the capacity for independent innovation for Chinese food processing industry is weak, some areas have excess capacity, and outstanding safety issues. US food products have a stronger international competitiveness in Western countries, have an important impact on the world’s food processing industry, Comprehensive study the International Competitiveness of US Food Processing Industry will have important theoretical and practical significance.This study aims to answer the following three theoretical and practical questions:(1) What is the foundation theoretical for the formation of international competitiveness of industry? How does analysis and evaluate the international competitiveness?(2) What are the status and international competitiveness performance for US food processing industry? Factors(3) What are the factors for affecting the international competitive performance of US food processing industry, and how do they impact?This paper will answer above research questions thorugh following aspects. First, the issues raised part: This part will firstly sort out the background and current research situation, then propose the content of the main research and study routes, this part will focus on Chapter 1. Secondly, the main part, which is the core part of this study, the theoretical framework and methodological for this study is formed by the industrial international competitiveness theory analysis, and then a detailed analysis is performed for the US food processing industry and the performance of international competitiveness of industry, foundation and conditions, and other factors that influence the formation, this paper seeks a more comprehensive display of the international competitiveness of the food processing industry and the underlying ecosystem. The last part is about the recommendations, the author will analyze status of food processing industry development in China, summarizes the main experience of American food processing industry to enhance the international competitiveness of the propose the relevant policy recommendations to enhance China’s international competitiveness of food processing industry. The main contents, arragement and conclusions of this paper are as follows.Chapter 1, “Introduction” part, explains the research background, purpose and research methods. Food processing industry has the duty to provide security for citizens, health, food nutrition, it is also the basic industries of the national economy to normal operation and protect the people’s livelihood. In recent years, China’s food processing industry increased efforts for product development, and actively carry out technological upgrading, food processing industry has made considerable progress, but there are also exist some issues, such as extensive mode of development and food safety situation is not optimistic. Based on analysis of the theoretical background and practical background, this paper will come up with the main study background, from the view of improving the international competitiveness of Chinese food processing industry, based on the industry research paradigm, the paper study the industry international competitive for US food processing industy, and which has has an important reference for improving the international competitiveness of Chinese food industry.In chapter 2, this part resort, review the related theoretical of international competitiveness of industry, and formed the theoretical basis of this study. The first section of this chapter analyzes the concept of international competitivenss, starting from the definition of industry, recongnize industry category, and the industrial international competitiveness of a country that is an industry in the current international market environment in the international and domestic markets under institutional arrangements, through the configuration and conversion of the resources and elements, continue to meet consumer demand, and to promote the industry to achieve sustainable development. Next, this chapter reviewed and retrospectived the classical trade theory, neoclassical trade theory, new trade theory, and further explores the mechanism and the formation of the source for international competitiveness. On this basis, the review focused on Porter’s Competitive Advantage of Nations, analyze the variables impact a country to establish and maintain international competitive advantage in the international market, which mainly include factors of production, demand conditions, related industries and supporting industries and corporate strategy, structure and competition, these factors provide a theoretical basis for subsequent analysis.Chapter 3 is about US food processing industry and its international competitiveness, this part is mainly on examining status of the Food Processing Industry and specific performance of International Competitiveness of. Specifically, this chapter first defines the food processing industry, and analyzes the development of over all US food processing industry from changes in the size of US food processing industry, internal structure, factor inputs, R & D investment and internal and external market demands a concrete analysis of the US situation and other aspects of the overall development of the food processing industry. On this basis, there is a detailed analysis in the import and export market share of US food processing industry in global market, the food processing industry trade surplus and large multinational food processing market performance and other specific performance.Chapter 4 is about the foundation and condition of international competitiveness for US food processing industry. This part analyzes the basic conditions for International Competitiveness formation. US food processing industry occupies an important position in the US economy, and reduces the US unemployment rate significantly, and had a significant impact on the world food production, food quality and food trade. Above condition seems to connect to the US economy and technology, and strong competitiveness in the international arena for US food processing industry, or that these conditions can be regarded as the foundation of strong international competitiveness for US manufacturing sector. In this study we analyze natural conditions and natural resources, quality of labor, the level of technological development and industrial production centralizationChapter 5 is about the main factors impacting the US food processing industry, this part starts from the view of ecosystem to analysis the main factors to impact on their international competitiveness, the establishment and maintenance of US international competitiveness of the food processing industry is inseparable from the survival of its industry environment. This paper employs Porter’s "diamond model to analyze the human capital factor, capital elements, technical elements, and specific impact on US international competitiveness of the food processing industry generated by domestic market market demand and international market constituted by the transportation and logistics industry, packaging industry and other components related supporting industries as well as government and other regulatory and institutional arrangementsChapter 6 is about performance evaluation of International Competitiveness of the US Food Processing Industry, this part examine its international competitiveness from the view of foreign trade, and the use of revealed comparative advantage(RCA) index and trade competitiveness index(TC) as a means of specific Examining internationally competitive, while the index will compare with a selected number of developed countries, perform a cross-sectional analysis of international competitiveness of US food processing industry. The results showed that the US food processing industry in 2000- 2006, the US food processing industry exports in the revealed comparative disadvantage, and in 2007- 2013 period, the US food processing industry’s export performance was revealed comparative advantage. US food processing industry competitiveness index in 2000- 2005 presented the downward trend, fell to 0.01 in 2000-0.07 2005, then competitiveness index appeared more rapid improvement, reaching the maximum observation period in 2008, the value to 0.07- 0.1amplitude between the US food processing industry can be regarded as essentially balance for import and export in American food processing industry, which has a large number of US food exports, it has also a lot of imported food.Chapter 7 is about the experience for the form of the international competitiveness of the food processing industry in America and its enlightenment to China, this parts firstly summary the main experiences of US,analyze the current situation of China’s Food Processing Industry, and put forward relevant reconmendations. By strengthening food safety supervision, improve the level of technological innovation, promote the coordinated development of related industries, improve business efficiency, the Food Processing Industry and International Competitiveness has improved. After 60 years of development, the Chinese food industry has made a great deal of achievements, but through analysis, the author found that the problems of the food processing industry development in China faces that mainly focused on food safety, overcapacity and weak capacity of independent innovation and other key points.
