Weilingxian is one of commom used Traditional Chinese Medicine for analgesic and anti-inflammation from acient times to nowadays. There are many pubulished reports and literatures which studied on acient medical documents, species identification, chemical components and pharmacology about Weilingxian but few on quality contral of its medicinal materials , systemic filtration for its effective parts for analgesic and anti-inflammation and futher for its effective chemical components.Under the item of Weilingxian in Chinese pharmacopoeia Ed.2005 TLC was used to detect Oleanolic acid consisted in its medicinal materials. Reports and documents studied on various researching field in past few years about Weilingxian were summarized, And a clearing up of usages and recordation in medical documents from acient times to nowadays was worked out In this paper.Original plants used as Weilingxian were studied and collected and an index key was made out for original plants distributed in Sichuan province.Through collection and identification of commercial Weilingxian from Sichuan Chengdu Hehuachi medical materials market, Gansu Huanghe medical materials market and Yunnan, Guizhou, Heilongjiang an investigation of commercial Weilingxian were made out and the original plant species were clarified.A filtration based on different chemical components for its analgesic and anti-inflammation activity in root of Clematis terniflora var. manshurica which was recorded in Chinese pharmacopoeia Ed. 2005 as one of original resources of TCM Weilingxian.
