Study On Kun-lun Film Studio(1945-1952)

Kun-lun film studio is an important case in the history of the development of Chinese film.As a culture platform for the integration of the national capital and the elite filmmakers, the films from Kun-lun which have the realistic style become classic works. Most researches on Kun-lun studio concentrated in the period from 1945 to 1949, so this dissertation tries to describe the whole development history of Kun-lun which is from 1945 to 1952. Form the perspective of historical changes of Kun-lun Studio after 1949 and based on some new-found materials, the dissertation rewrites the development history of Kun-lun. Through three aspects such as industry system , culture and filmmakers, it focuses on the special period in the history of Chinese film ,which is from 1946 that Kun-lun studio was founded to 1952 that Kun-lun studio had totally merged into the New China film system.There are two parts in this dissertation. Besides these main parts, there are the introduction and a conclution. The introduction explains the reasons, values and the struction . The first part which has three chapters focuses on the development of Kun-lun studio before 1949. Chapter one is about the development of Kun-lun studio after victory of Anti-Japanese War. In this chapter, there are three different times in the development of Kun-lun studio which is the initial stage(1946-1947),Zong's Co-production(1948-1949) and Nan-guo film studio in Hong Kong (1949). The title of the second chapter is Kun-lun Films's cultural politics from 1945 to 1949, describing Kun-lun culture events such as Zhongzheng culture prize, the argument about DongshanShi's film-"Xin Guiyuan"and Kun-lun female stars'screen image. Chapter three the road to the elite, analyses how the Kun-lun filmmakers to become the elite group. The second part which has three chapters mainly explains the different reasons to the Kun-lun's change after 1949. Kun-kun's adjustment after the founding of New China tells me that Kun-lun studio readjust their policy in order to cater for Planned Economy. Then Chapter five is about Kun-lun films's culture politics from 1949 to 1952. From some events about Kun-lun studio between 1949 to 1952, it shows that how Kun-lun studio to be on the wane. In the next chapter Kun-lun filmmakers'transformation after the founding of New China, the dissertation discusses the change of filmmaker's thought ideas and shows a specific process that they change themselves and make great efforts to merge into the mainstream culture of New China.And in the conclusion, we can see that Kun-lun studio's history is a historic process of gradual development which is both continuative and multistage. Therefore, today we study Kun-lun Bunin, and in so doing we can know Kun-lun more objectively, more comprehensively, and more profoundly, and we can further understand the whole contemporary Chinese cinema and her history and culture.
