This thesis brings the style of Chinese Buddhist Scripture into the research vision of Chinese history and studies it from the viewpoint of linguistics. The full text is divided into seven parts. The Introduction first reviews the development history about the discussions on the style of Buddhist Scripture and then explains some issues related to stylistic study, such as the definition of style, style and linguistics, style analysis and so on, finally delivers the study contents and methods of this thesis. The first chapter clarifies "buddhist canon", "The nine divisions of the Buddhist canon" and "The twelve divisions of the Buddhist canon", which refer to the classification of Buddhist Scripture. The second chapter indexes the development process of the "JiSong" style of Chinese Buddhist Scripture, discusses its forming reason from both the style of original edition and that of Chinese edition, and analyses its specific impacts in language. The third chapter points out the development process of the style of "Four-Character Sentences" in the Chinese Buddhist Scripture, discusses its formation reason from some aspects such as the style trend in its times, aesthetis concept, its verbal advantage, and analyses its specific impacts in language. In the next three chapters, from the viewpoints of textual rules, vocabulary, syntax and rhetoric, using the relevant research methods of modern stylistic, analyses the different stylistic characteristics of "Sutra-pitaka", "Vinaya-pitaka" and "Abhidharma-Pitika" according to their selected corpus.
