Kenzaburo Oe has made active attempt to use imagination both in theory and in practice. In theory, he accepts Sartre, Bachelard and Blake' s theory of imagination, focuses on the theory of imagination in his literary comments and sketches, and tries his best to break the rules of traditional Japanese theory of "fiction" which is represented by self- centred novels. In practice, he uses the theory of imagination sub-consciously to criticize the world-famous works and to improve his own novel writing. He takes the force of imagination as the principle of novel writing , and at the level of navel writing, he puts forward the issues of language stylization and image conversion to achieve the activation of literary imagination. At the level of the social function of literature, he puts forward the problems of the imagination of politics, the imagination at the nuclear times and the public imagination, meaning to employ Sartre' s theory of "literary intervention" in Japanese literary criticism practice and to break the hold of "Mikado System" on overall narration. He emphasizes that imagination should be future-oriented and images should be converted, which undoubtedly serves as a great impact on the traditional Japanese literature, i.e., on the trend of "theme-oriented" and "unitary theme" in the "Mikado System" . In the modern context of globalization, how to set free the imagination of the subject and how to change the images, that is , the language structure, will be a very important theme in the research of comparative literature.
