| In the 1930's, a female film star Zhou Xuan sang the song of "Shanghai's Evening" which was an episode in the film of "Long Missing". The song was as following, "Shanghai's Evening, Shanghai's Evening, a No Evening City; Splendid Light on, Music Starts, Show of Peace and Prosperity; Non Drinking People get Drunk, Recklessly Enjoying and Wasting Youth. " This song won universal praised and pushed "Shanghai's Evening" as a token of Shanghai city's splendid and flourish in the 1930's. Academy has made much research on the entertainment in the development of Shanghai, but still no systemic and complete research on the top flourish of entertainment in the 1930's of Shanghai. This article discusses compared systemically and completely about the city entertainment pomp in the 1930's of Shanghai, based on full use of plenty achieves of 1930's city entertainment in Shanghai Achieves and Shanghai Library, absorbing years research results on Shanghai city entertainment in academy. This article has 5 chapters.Chapter 1: The background and evolution track of the development of Shanghai city entertainment. This chapter reviews and expatiates two basic processes of beginning and changing of Shanghai city entertainment experienced total nearly 80 years, from port opening in the 1840's to the 1920's, based on simple depiction of relationship between the entertainment and Shanghai city economy flourish, population increase, development of city establishment. 1840's-1890's was the beginning of city entertainment. In this period, with concession founded and foreign entertainment entering, Shanghai city entertainment began to bud. Influenced by west industrial entertainment culture, Shanghai original entertainment became to have a hard change. Pulling by the development of the economy and business in the concession, the center of Shanghai entertainment spanned "Yang Jingbang" from the south to the north, settled in the public concession, furthered into flourish. 1900's-1920's was the changing period of city entertainment. Shanghai city entertainment finished the changing from traditional entertainment to modern city entertainment, not only in the substance layer, but also in the spirit layer, thereby settled the stable foundation for the third period-top flourish in the 1930's.Chapter 2: Shanghai city entertainment stepped into top flourish(1930-1939). This chapter mainly expatiates and analyzes the basic characters, development of the entertainment establishment, and main body of city entertainment in the top flourish period. From the view of the macro development of the city entertainment, Shanghai city entertainment had mature entertainment system, leading domestic entertainment establishment, considerable entertainment market and universal praised city entertainment culture brand, which were four basic components to show completely the pomp of the 1930's. Combined with details depiction and quantitative analysis of the development of entertainment establishment and entertainment ground as theater, cinema, carnie, ballroom, etc., this article furthers to prove that Shanghai city entertainment can step into flourish, not only for its good support from entertainment establishment, but also from culture support mainly as entertainment modes and activities. In this period, main body also made an obvious change. Chinese businessmen became the main body to invest and manage the entertainment enterprises, and Tong entering into city entertainment industry reflected the profound change of Shanghai society in the history background.Chapter 3: The perspective of Shanghai residence's entertainment living. The mode of Shanghai residence participating entertainment related with not only the income increasing and leisure prolonging, but also the influences by characters of Shanghai city population structure, such as the population immigrated, age younger, sex proportion serious unbalance and work difference.
