The purpose of this thesis is to study the vocabulary of the rhyme book Jiyuni (《集韵》 )Chapter1. In this chapter ,we expound the style related to vocabulary and prepare for the follwing research.Chapter2. We study in deep or investigate about Jiyun ,for example the constitution of its vocabulary and traits of its interpertation. To the former, Jiyun doesn't collect and explain compounds in principle, it collects a vast amount of names, Zi (especially women names and Zis about women), unbroken words and exotic words. From Guangyun (《广韵》) to Jiyun, it shows clearly its return from encyclopedical dictionary to vocabulary dictionary. And to the latter, Jiyun tends to restore ancient way. The two books are both interested in fantastic stories, which can be traced to the same origin. The total interpretation style of Jiyun is brief and concise, and meanwhile there are detailed supplementary explanations, in this book. The research of paronym of Jiyun has bright prospects, we can conjure up the whole thing through analyzing reading pronunciations and meanings of 25 groups of paronyms.Chapter3. Jiyun has included many new words and new meanings dating from Tang and Song Dynasty. We know the dictionary is different from the general language materials. If we want to inspect whether these new words and new meanings are up to date or not, we must test them by other written materials, that is say it needs collateral evidence and reference materials. Compared with Hanyu Da cidian (《汉语 大词典》), Jiyun has included abundant regular words, but many of them lack to documentary evidence. They're probably just used in dialect, so they're not appeal to refined taste sufficient evidence indicates that Jiyun is timely to reflect colloquialisms of Song Dynasty, though it's still conservative in some aspects.Chapter4. We investigate a large number of dialect words and their pronunciations. Seen from statistics about Jiyun, Wu(吴)dialect words have an obrious advantage in them .It may because of Zheng Jian (郑戬)—one of its editors, we conscientiously analyse these words suspected to dialect, dialect pronunciation and so on; one by one .In additition, we try to use my native dialect—Tai'an(泰安)dialect to prove Jiyun.Chapter5. Since most brief explanation of Jiyun stem from documents of fomer dynasties, it's very necessary to inspect the quotations in Jiyun . And we know that Shuo wen Jie zi (《说文解字》 ),Guangya( 《广雅》 )and Fangyan( 《方言》 )are the first three books quoted from Jiyun.Chapter6. The relation of each physique of head character is very complicated. And there're three kinds of circumstances, we need pay attention to: [1] amalgamation of different words. [2] different pronunciations of variants. [3] amalgamation of synonym.Chapter7. We concentrate on distinguishing same mistakes related to vocabulary, such as "put Zhang's hot on Li's head",false words trends of regular interpretation: linear interpretation and growing meaning from the shape of the word.
