'The Wu Men Notes on Classical Chinese Poetry'by Fa Shishan , a Mongolian poet in Qing Dynasty, is one of the numerous works of comments on classical Chinese poetry in Qing Dynasty . It is also a treatise on literary theory of ancient Chinese written by a Mongolian. He carried on and develop the traditional literary theory of Chinese and was influenced by Wang Shizhen, Yuan Mei and other poets in ancient literary theory of Chinese. Fa Shishan learned the advantages from forerunners and managed to avoid their disadvantages. So his comments on poetry were appreciated by other critics at his time. It is supposed that he could understand the true will of famous poets and make comments on their poems accurately. He thought that poems were the expression of poets'feelings and feelings were the most signification component in poets. During the period of 30 years when he chaired the poems forum in ancient Beijing in Qing Dynasty , he finished'The Wu Men Notes on Classical Chinese Poetry', the critical works of poetry, and a lot of articles on poetry. As a result his poetry theories with the core of temperament came into being.The research on Mongolian ancient literary theory is one part of the present Mongolian research. Some achievements have been made in the research on the literary theory of Mongolian as native language and Tibetan as non-native language. However, inadequate attention was paid to the research on literary theory of Chinese.The thesis consists of a foreword, preface, the punctuation and annotation of the'The Wu Men Notes on Classical Chinese Poetry'and the index of references. In the foreword the objective of the thesis, the general situation and the method of the research are introduced systematically.'The Wu Men Notes on Classical Chinese Poetry'includes 16 volumes, handed gown in the from of handwritten copy. The reference edition is'The 77th Wu Men Notes on Classical Chinese Poetry in the Collection of Manuscripts in Qing Dynasty', the photomechanical printing edition published by Taiwan Wenhai Press.
