Language promotion is of much significance to the enhancement of a nation's comprehensive strength. The globality of "dominating language and culture" will bring to a country unpredictable multiple benefits, including both the expansion of language, culture and ideology and the enormous economic benefit and the sustainable growth of a nation's "soft strength". Therefore, the promotion of Chinese is of great significance.China has a long history of Chinese promotion, but the systematic promotion to foreign countries began after the establishment of People's Republic of China. It is after the enactment of "Project of Chinese Bridge" in 2003 that "the international promotion of Chinese" has been adopted and implemented.July 2005, the first World Chinese Conference was hold in Beijing, international Chinese promotion has been formally included in the framework of national strategic development, and becomes important part of diplomatic and foreign publicity affairs. Accordingly, there have been great changes in the model of teaching Chinese as a foreign language. The focus of work has changed from the China to foreign countries, of course giving consideration to domestic need at the same time. In order to avoid or lessen the negative effects brought about by the direct interference of government, we need a frontier promotion organization, which can represent the national benefits and doesn't take profits as its goal. Catering for the current needs, Confucius Institute, the first international promotion organization of China in the true sense, was established.Alike international Chinese promotion, Confucius Institute, as a new organization, has no available model to imitate from directly. Nearly having no other foundation, this article will attempt to study the promotion of Chinese in our country as well as the economic nature and operation model of Confucius Institute.
