Based on the historical review and analysis of the status quo of Chinese art history in art courses in institutions of higher learning, the paper points out the current situation of Chinese art history in art courses in institutions of higher learning facing the marginalizing plight, and analyzes the internal and external causes of forming the plight. It is also further expounds the nature in humanities, targeting basic theory courses of Chinese art history course, and the objectives in knowledge, ability, feelings, attitudes, values and so on. On this basis, the paper focuses on the construction of Chinese art history in art courses in institutions of higher learning around the major stylistic features of"history"and the basic norms of teaching materials. Finally, the paper points out the implementation of Chinese art history course in art courses in institutions of higher learning should change from the traditional teaching of indoctrinating knowledge into the research study of enhancing the learning ability of students, with a view to providing a useful reference for the reform of curriculum for based theory in art courses in institutions of higher learning through those researches.
