Land use and land cover variation is an important topic of global environmental problems. Located at front edge of international geography, it is also a break point in studying global and regional environmental change in the field of nature, society and economics. Research work on representative regions not only help to make a prefect discuss on problems of land use change, also provide abundant and more accurate regional information for comprehensive analysis on land use change and global environmental change. Thus in recent years the research work of LUCC is focused on selection of typical region, analyze on driving mechanism of land use and land cover change, searching for the relation among variations and establishing predication models to discover the characteristics and spatiotemporal distribution (space-time patterns) rules of variations. According to the research, remote sensing ,GIS, and mathematical model techniques were used to study on drive of the land use change and its effect on soil erosion. Beginning with the problem of interlaced region between farming and herding, the boundary line of the interlaced region is calculated based on grid with 10km GRID; then the relation among land use of the region, soil erosion and erosion region is analyzed; based on factor classification, no useful factors were neglected and stepwise regression method was used to analysis the drive of land use change; fractal method was applied to analysis the degradation of land-use and relation among land use, soil erosion and wind-water erosion zone; environmental variances are introduced to establish characteristic index of land use change and analysis the effect of land use change on soil erosion. Conclusions are given as follows:1 Ecotone between agriculture and animal husbandry figure out. In the view of land use, this paper gets Ecotone between agriculture and animal husbandry based on land use which gotten farmland and grassland from 1km in line with expert knowledge. This zone major distributes in north china including inner mongolia,Liaoning,Jilin,Hebei,Shannxi,Shanxi,Ningxia,Xinjiang,and Guizhou in south china. The characteristic of Ecotone between agriculture and animal husbandry distribution is that it distributes from northeast to southwest in china, that is from DAXINANLIN throught XILINHTE in inner mongolia,border on Liaoning, along DAMAQUN mountain in Hebei, north Shanxi and Shannxi, to east Gansu, north QINLIN and east Liupanshan. There is a little along both side of Tian mountain in Xinjiang and scatters in Yunnan,Sichuan,Guizhou which is closely with theirs elevation. From Ecotone between agriculture and animal husbandry distribution, the cover area in north is more than south'. But in north, the Ecotone between agriculture and animal husbandry concentrates east Gansu,north Shanxi,north Shannxi,east inner Mongolia. Ecotone between agriculture and animal husbandry distributes along altiplano and mountain chain in china. From climate index, Ecotone between agriculture and animal husbandry aridity ranges from 1.0 to 2.0, more year average precipitation in Ecotone between agriculture and animal husbandry ranges from 250mm to 450mm.2 land use characteristics in Ecotone between agriculture and animal husbandry. This paper analyses the farmland and grassland dynamic change spatial pattern in Ecotone between agriculture and animal husbandry during recent tens years. In the view offarmland and grassland dynamics pattern during ten years, the main farmland change is it shifting forest and grassland. Based on it,the most change is in inner Mongolia, distributing in middle and east inner Mongolia. From the grassland change, it is changed into farmland and buildup, distributing in border on inner mongolia and Liaoning.
