The dissertation analyses and studies certain structural problems of foreign trade in China by adoption of comprehensive subjects theories and methods including Economic Geography, International Trade, Foreign Trade, International Economic Relation, Industrial Economics, and System Theory, Dissipation Theory etc. Furthermore, on the basis of her study, the author draws some conclusions and poses future suggestions.In addition to preface and conclusion parts, this dissertation is divided into 6 chapters.In the Preface part, the author discusses the meaning and purpose of the selected topic, theoretical meaning and practical value of the theme study as well as study methods, etc.Chapter 1 is theoretical basic part of the whole dissertation. Firstly, the author discriminates and defines foreign trade and certain structural conceptions. Then she discusses the relation between foreign trade structure and other economic structures, conditions and factors that affect the changes of foreign trade structure and relative theories of trade structure.Chapter 2 is about the studies of merchandise structure of foreign trade in China. The author analyses and studies the development and present situations of Chinese foreign trade after China's reform and opening-up, changes and characteristics of import and export structure, factors of fast improvement of export structure and problems and conflicts of export structural changes etc. Author also rationally considers several relations in export structure and draws the basic conclusion after analyzing and researching: (1) China has become a big country of international trade but not a powerful country and there is still a long way to catch up with other powerful countries of international trade. (2) Chinese export structure has been in a important adjustingmoment in which the direction of Chinese export trade development is to preserve the current dimension of non-professional labor-dense products as well as put the main point of further extension on capital-dense, technology-dense and knowledge-dense products. (3) To realize the upgrade of export structure in China, we must emphasize on orientation of competitive advantage, and convert potential comparative advantage into practical competitive one.Chapter 3 is about research of foreign trade method structure in China. The author analyzes and studies main components, changes and reasons for the changes of foreign trade methods in China since Chinese adoption of reform and opening-up policy; development, present situation and features of processing trade; its effect to the international background and internal advantages for the development of processing trade in China, etc. Through her analysis and study, she draws the following conclusions in 5 points: (1) Chinese foreign trade method structure is simple and falls behind. As a result, trade's "dynamic effect" is very small; (2) Some contradictions and problems, which occurred during the development course of processing trade in China, are not produced by itself; (3) Processing trade is not only the result of adjustment of world industrial structure but also a representative form of industrial transfer; (4) Processing trade will inevitably exist in China in a considerably long term; and (5)The new round industry structure adjustment in the world has provided a good opportunity for the upgrade of processing trade in China.Chapter 4 is about the research of external districts structure of Chinese foreign trade. The author analyzes and studies external districts structure of Chinese foreign trade including evolution, present situations, features and trend of different nations (regions); existing problems and development trend concerning trade development trend concerning trade relations between main western developed countries, developing countries & regions and China, between mainland of China and Hong Kong SAR, Macao SAR and Taiwan, as well as between former CIS (the Commonwealth of the Independent States) nations, Baltic Sea nations,East European...
