Studies On The Mechanism Of Chinese Agricultural Extension

With the background of China's entering WTO, based on market economic system and the reality of Chinese agriculture, this paper gives a detailed analysis of the system and mechanism of Chinese agricultural extension and makes a prospect for its development, which also puts forward the historic significance and necessary measures of bettering its mechanism.The paper consists of nine chapters.Chapter I is a general introduction, which introduces the background and importance of doing this paper and the correlative studies of agricultural extension both at home and abroad. It also presents the methodology of studying this topic.Chapter II is an introduction of agricultural extension. It firstly introduces the concept of agricultural extension and its status and function in agriculture, and then lists some relevant fundamentals, which is the theoretical basis of this paper.Chapter III is a description of agricultural extension in foreign countries. It sums up the experience of agricultural extension in U.S., Japan, Israel, Canada,. Thailand and Australia, which will do Chinese agriculture good.Chapter IV tells the history and real condition of Chinese agricultural extension system. In the first place, it looks back on the development of Chinese agricultural extension; in the second place, it analyses the economic benefit of agricultural extension in the eye of economics; in the third place, it introduces Chinese agricultural extension organizations now available; in the fourth place, it points out the problems of the present agricultural extension system; in the fifth place, it shows the developing trend of agricultural extension.Chapter V focuses on the effect that farm households' using technology has on agricultural extension mechanism. It describes the features of using agricultural technology; it gives an analysis of farm households' using technology in the view of economics ; it analyzes the dynamic power of farm household's using technology; it illustrates the differences of farm households' using technology; it introduces the sources and channels of farm households' using technology; it analyses the obstacles which lower the enthusiasm of farm households to use technology; it provides somemeasures for farm households to increase using technology.Chapter VI deals with the effect that the suppliers of agricultural technology have on mechanism of agricultural extension. It firstly introduces Chinese agricultural research system, and then points out its problems and the direction of its reform.Chapter VII concentrates on the governmental organizations of agricultural extension. It presents its reality and different extension modes; and it also points out its disadvantages and the urgent need of bettering the agricultural extension mechanism.Chapter VIII concentrates on the non-governmental organizations of agricultural extension. It introduces the development, features and extension modes of Village Specific Technology Associations and leading agricultural enterprises; it additionally analyses their disadvantages and makes some suggestions on how to overcome them.Chapter VIIII throws light on how to improve the mechanism of agricultural extension, in which some specific methods are put forward on constructing a new system, bettering its mechanism and ensuring its development.
