Applying related theories and methods in Regional Economic Geography, Industrial Economics and Regional Economics, this dissertation has made a careful and detail analysis and study on unbalanced development principles of regional economy, laws on unbalanced development of regional economy in Japan, and relations between industrial group and unbalanced development of regional economy. On basis of this, by summarizing experiences in industrial group development, this paper is aimed to contribute to industrial group development in China, especially to provide useful experiences in advancing development of traditional industrial area in Northeastern China through pushing industrial group development.Besides preface and conclusion, this paper is divided into four parts. The first part is the theoretical basis of the whole paper. The second, third and fourth part is a case study on Japan and the third part is where emphasis lies in this dissertation.The first part studies mechanism of unbalanced development of regional economy. Firstly, this paper puts forward basic intentions of unbalanced development of regional economy as well as measure index on basis of analyzing related concepts and theories on balance and unbalance, economy growth and economy development, theory of balanced development and theory of unbalanced development. Secondly, this part makes an analysis and evaluation on theory of growth pole, accumulation and circulation theory of regional economy development, gradient spreading theory of regional economy development, theory of scale economy and congregation economy, motion theory of economic regions etc. Thirdly, this part summarizes the concept, features, types and laws governing formation and development of industrial group, as well as their relation with regional economy development, and points out the view that industrial group is the important factor of unbalanced development of regional economy.The second part mainly expatiates basic laws governing unbalanced development of Japanese regional economy. Firstly, this part analyzes location, natural conditions and natural resources, population and labors, socio-economic elements, and the impacts of global political and economic environment change on unbalanced development of Japanese regional economy. Secondly, through analysis on regional development before the Meiji Reformation, industrialization, formation of dual structure and regional development after war, this part puts forward that unbalanced development is an objective law and regional development policies of government can't change structure of unbalanced development essentially. Finally, this part sums up motive mechanism of unbalanced development of Japanese regional economy, including location directional feature, scale economy, congregation and diffusion economy, putting forward that the overall effects of the three types of mechanisms stated above can be summarized as industrial group effects, which is also the important mechanism of unbalanced development of Japanese regional economy.The third part mainly studies the impacts of industrial group on unbalanced development of regional economy in Japan. Firstly, this part analyzes development features of Japanese industrial group, including formation factors, industrial distribution and scale, types of internal structures, development status and problems. Secondly, on basis of expiating four typical cases, namely industrial group of Toyota auto, Kitakyushu industrial group, IC industrial group of Kyushu, textile and clothing industrial group of Fukui, this part summarizes basic laws of industrial group evolvement and its impacts of regional economy. Thirdly, this part makes a theoretical summarization on relation between industrial group and unbalanced development of regional economy in Japan, holding the view that industrial group has not only economy growth effects, but also economic structure evolvement effects and social improvement effects.The fourth part carries out a research on experiences of accelerating indust...
