| Since late 1990s, Logistics and Third-Party Logistics(3PL)have attracted tremendous interests in economic study in China. Hundreds of papers and reports have been published. Unfortunately, some studies are no more than the introduction of basic concepts. They failed to provide valuable insights on logistics industry or logistics service providers. This dissertation is an empirical study on the competitive advantages of third party logistics providers in China. It gives a comprehensive review on the theory of companies' competitive advantages, Third Party Logistics and competitive advantages of 3PLs. Based on those theories, the researcher concluded that this study would focus on the industry environment and strategic choices of 3PLs. A survey is conducted to get the first-hand information. And a lot of managerial insights and implications have been generated for local logistics managers.
