In the wake of the Cold War, Central Asia nations became new strategic location in international geopolitics. "Power vacuum" in Central Asia makes this region become the new strategic target of major powers contending for. Especially after the "9 · 11" incident, the fact that the U.S.A stationed in Central Asia under the banner of anti-terrorism exacerbates the political risk and sharpens the competition of energy resources in Central Asia.Change of geopolitical status of Central Asia in international geopolitics has a direct influence on Xinjiang's security and development. Xinjiang is the bridgehead where China opens up westward, and the most advanced position where China fights against the permeation and the proliferation of the extremism, separatism and terrorism. Therefore, analysis on and understanding of the situation and changes of strategic position of Central Asia is of great practical significance to the achievement of Xinjiang's security and development. This dissertation analyses the change of geopolitical pattern and geo-economics pattern in Central Asia, explores some related theories and countermeasures for realizing Xinjiang's security and development, and discusses some theoretical questions about conceiving China's geopolitical strategy in Central Asia in the new era.Chapter I analyses changes of geopolitical position of Central Asia after the Cold War. This part analyses the geopolitical position and significance of Central Asia according to the dynamic development of international politics.The post-Cold War period is divided into two phases in the chapter with "9 · 11 "incident as a dividing line. The Chapter analyses changes of the Central Asian geopolitical position in the strategic competition of major powers centered upon the U.S.A and Russia, focusing on international power, benefits and security. The Chapter raises the opinion that the Central Asian region has already become an important geopolitical location for major powers to contend, and has already formed the geopolitical pattern contradiction dominated by the contradiction between the U.S.A and Russia standing opposite.Chapter II specifically analyses the situation of geopolitical game and the strategic interest of China in Central Asia after "9· 11 "incident/This Chapter consists of three parts. The first part mainly expounds the diplomatic strategy of the U.S.A, Russia and their main strategic targets and means in Central Asia, analyses the influence of Islamic force, represented by Turkey and Iran, on the geopolitical pattern in Central Asia, and displays the complex geopolitical situation in Central Asia.The second part analyses the geopolitical strategies of nations in Central Asia. This part expounds the diplomatic strategies of Central Asian states, which keep balanced relations among major powers and actively promote regional integration level. The third part explores the relations between "great game" in Central Asia, regional economic integration and the peace and development of China.Chapter III explores the interactive relations between the geopolitical changes in the Central Asian region and the development of China's Xinjiang after the Cold War. This chapter is divided into three parts. The first part, by comparing the accuracy of the data, describes the current economic situation in Central Asia after the Cold War, and the basic characteristics of Central Asia under the conditions of economic globalization and regional economic opening-up. The second part focuses on the orientation of Xinjiang's Opening-up strategy. This part analyses the improvement of Xinjiang's trade status in Central Asian region and the construction of a commercial corridor in Xinjiang, explores Xinjiang's strategic planning and opening-up strategy for the Construction of "Central Asian Heights" in Xinjiang, and points out some theoretical thoughts about the improvement of regional economic cooperation between Xinjiang and the Central Asian region. The third part explores and analyses the construction of an overland energy security corridor in China by taking advantage of Xinjiang's geopolitical position, based on the analysis of geopolitical situation of oil in Central Asia.Chapter IV analyses the relations between the ethnic and religious issues in Central Asia and the security of China's. Xinjiang. This chapter is divided into four parts. The first part analyses nationalism, Pan-Turkism, Pan-Islamism and other issues in Central Asia states. The second part analyses the "three forces" and problems of transnational ethnic groups in Central Asia, also explores the negative impact of the ethnic and religious issues in Central Asia on the social security and stability of Xinjiang. The third part explores the theories and principles of peaceful transnational living of transnational ethnic groups in Central Asia and China, and explores the path of peaceful transnational living of transnational ethnic groups in Xinjiang, based on national self-determination theory of Marxism. The fourth part analyses the role of religion in geopolitics, and thinks over the religious policy of Xinjiang based on Marxist theory of religion in contemporary China.Chapter V expounds the issue of democratic development in Central Asia and political stability in Xinjiang area. This chapter is divided into three parts. The first part analyses the direction of democracy and related issues in Central Asian states after the cold war. The second part analyses the "color revolution" in the Central Asian region using the geopolitical theory, reveals the reasons of "color revolution" in the Central Asian region, and summarizes the lesson of "color revolution". The third part analyses the role and function of the political ideas (or ideological) system, political system, political entities (the ruling party as the core) in the political stability of a country, based on the theory of modern politics and governance, meanwhile, discusses and analyses how to achieve political stability in Xinjiang, based on the reality of democracy in Xinjiang.Chapter VI discusses some theoretical questions about conceiving China's geopolitical strategy in Central Asia in the new era. This chapter is divided into two parts. The first part expounds the diplomatic thoughts of China's peaceful development in the new era. The second part discusses and considers the geo-strategic framework of China in Central Asia, from the three perspectives of geopolitical power game, regional development and cooperation, and diplomatic demands of Central Asian states.
