The values, preconditions, and consolidation of democracy are the major theoretical issues of democratic analysis. As a basic type of regime constructing public power and political authority, democracy, characterized as "competitive election" and "political participation", has complex intertwined relationships with economic development, social equality, and political stability. The empirical studies of these correlations shows that: when some certain conditions are satisfied, democracy will improve economic performances, social equality, and political stability; on the other hand, prosperity, equality, and stability will consolidate and upstage the quality of democracy and lay the foundations for democracy to exhibite its functions to the society. For those nations which want to promote their democratic standard, the coherence and effectiveness of their political system, and rule by law, limited government which adopt market economy-oriented policy, etc., will be the good news for the democratic engineering.
