The accountability system within party is one of the most important parts of the Chinese Communist Party's system building, and it is the demand of enhancing the governing ability of the party and consolidating the governing status of the party. The significance of the accountability system within party is maintaining the prestige of the party and guaranteeing the smoothly working of the party. This dissertation has six chapters, which studies on the accountability system within the Chinese Communist Party, which traces the history of the accountability system within the Chinese Communist Party, which summarizes the experiences and the lessons of the accountability system within the foreign parties, and which searches the approaches to develop the accountability system within the Chinese Communist Party.Chapter one discusses the meaning and the range of the accountability system within party. The accountability system within party means a kind of system which demands the leading organ of the party and the leading cadre of the party to give an explanation for their behaviors related to their duties and demands them to assume responsibility within party for their behaviors which go against their duties. The accountability system within party contains negative accountability and positive accountability, process accountability and outcome accountability, and it aims not only at wrong doings but also at inactions. The object of the accountability system is the leading organ of the party and the leading cadre of the party.
