Professional managers refer to paid personnel who shoulder certain management duties, major in managing enterprises, are well versed in the secret of management and skillfully master both internal and external resources in order to achieve business objectives. Under modern enterprise system, the separation of an enterprise's ownership and its operation right has led to its role change from a business owner to a strategic decision-maker and supervisor, while the role of professional managers has become strategic decision-makers and executors. Thus, along with social and economic development, on one hand, professional managers have enjoyed an increasingly important position in the development of an enterprise. On the other hand, the capability of Chinese professional managers is generally low, thus needs urgently to be improved. Nevertheless, the training of professional managers has not been emphasized much or far from achieving the goal of enhancing their quality. Therefore, how to solve this contradiction and foster needed professional managers has become an important issue which is of concern to enterprises and theorists.Training effect evaluation is a process that includes systematically collecting relevant descriptive and evaluative training information, measuring and evaluating the training effect with specific index system and scientific theory, procedure and methods based on a company's strategy and objective. Training effect evaluation is an important and indispensable section in the whole training process. This study is a beneficial attempt to improve training effectiveness by selecting the research on training effect evaluation towards professional managers as a breakthrough point.Starting from analyzing the present situation, problems and causes of training effect evaluation on professional managers, this study puts forward a comprehensive evaluation system and index system of professional manager training effect and its application after hypothesizing, testing and modifying related models with questionnaire survey method, structural equation model and hierarchical analysis method based on reviewing researches on both domestic and foreign professional managers' training process and its composition, general theory of training effect evaluation and training effect evaluation model while drawing on the experience of system theory perspectives, incorporating closely the characteristics of professional managers. Various protective measures for executing comprehensive training effect evaluation system on professional managers are discussed further.Chapter 1 is an introduction of this paper containing the elaboration of research background, theoretical and realistic significance based on current analysis of training effect evaluation on professional managers, research methodology and technical route as well as the main content and innovative points. Chapter 2 is a literature review which summarizes relevant theories and researches about both domestic and foreign training process management, training process on professional managers, training effect evaluation system (model) based on the connotation and extension analysis of such core concepts as professional managers, training and training effect evaluation, thus lays a solid theoretical foundation for further research.Chapter 3 develops a conceptual framework of training effect evaluation system towards professional manager. First, it illustrates theory of system, human capital theory, performance and the balanced scorecard theory, lifelong education theory and the implication to model construction. Second, it deeply analyses the characteristics of a professional manager'job, role, quality and learning habit followed by a comprehensive analysis of process, purpose, subject, method and timing in evaluating training effect towards professional managers in search of multi-aspect bases for constructing integrated evaluation model. Based on the above theory exploration, it analyses various relations among variables existing in training effect evaluation towards professional managers, puts forward corresponding analytical framework and assumptions, and finally constructs a theoretical model of comprehensive training effect evaluation system towards professional managers.Chapter 4 is data collection and analysis which contains an elaboration of questionnaire design and implementation process, the operational definition and measurement of research variables, description analysis of formal sample data, reliability and validity analysis, factor analysis, structural equation model, analytic hierarchy process and so on.Chapter 5 deals with data analysis and the improvement of comprehensive evaluation system model, with the detailed illustration of the process of proposing, testing and modifying the above model. Starting from constructing important causal relations reflected in the comprehensive model into corresponding conceptual model (hypothesized model) mainly using structural equation model, this chapter has modified and tested the former hypothesis as well as the reliability of the above model. Finally, a sound comprehensive training effect evaluation system towards professional managers, which is of standardization, systematization, process-oriented, result-oriented, practicality and operability is shaped.Chapter 6 is focusing on the construction of comprehensive training effect evaluation system towards professional managers. Here the author attempts to construct a more applicable comprehensive training effect evaluation system with questionnaire survey and analytic hierarchy process based on a comprehensive review of related research on evaluation indicators of training effect.Chapter 7 deals with the effect evaluation in training professional managers in a commercial bank Shandong branch. The implementation and outcome are elaborated both before and after the application of the comprehensive training effect evaluation system on professional managers in the above bank. The index system proposed in this study has been applied in the training effect evaluation of this branch bank's professional managers twice and a good result has been found in enterprise-level application. Further, four aspects of measures are discussed here to effectively execute effect evaluation including need analysis of training professional managers based on strategic and performance perspective, creating work environment-friendly training effect transformation, building a learning organization and improving the growth mechanism of professional managers.
