The 21st century confronts its citizenship with new choices, opportunities and challenges due to the ubiquitous presence of technology into all spheres of life. Education, especially higher education, has also undergone profound shifts. Traditional teaching and learning paradigms have been shaken by the impact of the integration of new technologies into educational practices at the time that teachers are confronted by challenges which range from the acquisition of skill and literacy in the usage of IT to the delivery of the necessary tools which will lead students to become knowledge creators and users. These challenges come forth with the new teaching environment and teaching modes at the same time, which are mainly embodied in the form of e-Learning.E-Learning is referred as the learning and teaching activities which are conducted via internet or other digital content. It takes full advantage of modern information and communication technology which provides a learning environment with a totally new mechanism of communication and rich resources. E-Learning has fundamentally changed the traditional teacher's role and teacher-student relationship, as well as the structure and essence of teaching, which enables a brand-new way of teaching.E-Learning put emphasis on the exploration of teaching-learning process, focusing on equal dialogue and collaboration between teachers and students, making students more involved into the teaching processes. Teachers and students share their thinking, experience and knowledge, exchange their emotions and ideas, enrich teaching contents and eventually seek new discoveries. Therefore, e-Learning helps to form a teaching environment which promotes the common development of teachers and students. In fact, students' advantage in e-Learning is becoming more and more obvious. By utilizing the convenient network facilities, the curiosity and creativity of students could be better satisfied and leveraged. A significant number of students have obtained from internet the knowledge that is totally new and even not known by their teachers. Students sometimes study more intensively than their teacher with respect to specific subject knowledge. The students who surpass their teachers could be more frequently observed in the e-Learning of information era.In this paper, we address the research of several theoretical and practical problems concerning college e-Learning, focusing on how the information age e-Learning affects the traditional teacher-student relationship and teaching paradigms, in-depth analyzing the behaviors and their influencing factors of both teacher and students, and discussing how to establish an open, interactive, common development environment which pay equal attention to teaching and learning. Specifically, the main logical context of this paper is as follows:firstly, the paper presents the context macroscopically that information era has raised many challenges to traditional higher educations. Combining with the specific illustration of the definition and existing form of e-Learning, we ascertain the impact and requirements of e-Learning on either teacher or student, and the major problems currently faced. Secondly, we primarily introduce the Constructivism Theory and Teaching-learning Mutual-support Theory that are in line with e-Learning, and their guidance in building a new teacher-student relationship. Thirdly, teaching and learning patterns and their influencing factors have been illustrated for teachers and students respectively. Both roles in establishing a new teaching paradigm and teacher-student relationship have been elaborated. Finally, on the basis of the existing research and aiming at the theoretical and practical explorations on collaboration, guidance and communication processes that help to promote the common development of teachers and students, we have designed the teacher-student synchronic collaborative learning pattern and learning path-based e-tutor guidance and communication scheme respectively. This paper aims to provide a new view to understand the teacher-student relationship with e-Learning, and to explore the new theoretical and practice viewpoints by means of combining the pedagogical and technological points of view, which are of great theoretical and practical significance to the effective implementation of e-Learning in college education.
