The question of how to make the moral education more effective in the school is a widely discussed issue nowadays. With the background of social transformation, this dissertation explores the function of the school education on students' moral development from the aspects of "what we should do" and "what we are doing", also it studies the negative affect of the school education on students' moral development. The essential viewpoint of the paper lies that the most serious problem in the actual effect of school moral education is that some practice carried out by the school goes against the aim of education. School education, as an organic part of the society, is to fully develop students' potentialities, improve students' morals and personalities, so as to promote students' personal development in an over-all way, which illustrate the feature of educating in the school education, and the necessity of the existence of school education. In real practice, however, too many emphases are put improperly in the aspects of utility, which draws the aim of the school education off the track of its essential purpose, and thus throws negative influence on students' over-all development. My study has no intention to create and construct any theory, but focuses on finding the factors that hinders students' moral development, whose purpose aims at making educators reflect their own teaching practice, realize the limitation and possibility of school education and enhance the actual effect of school moral education from the perspectives of concerning quality of students' life and school life. The dissertation includes four parts:I.
