The dissertation is a study on the development and changes of global higher vocational and technical education with a comparative perspective since World War II, especially from 1980s and 1990s to early 21~st century Great changes happened on higher vocational and technical education from 1960s-1970s till now To trace its historical process and to predict its possible trend can help us to grasp the pulse of global higher vocational and technical education development Based on these, several real hot problems of Chinese higher vocational and technical education facing will be solved from the perspective of history and international comparisonThere are six chapters in the dissertationChapter One, Introduction. It's mainly about some issues to explain before reading the dissertation, including the purpose of the study, the scope and limitation of the study, the methods using m the study, the key concepts in the study, and the framework of the whole study. In addition to these, there is also a summary of literature. It is to collect, analyze and sum up the former studies on the subject. After that, 1 found some insufficiency in it, and try to make up for it in this dissertation It's a basic work for the studyChapter Two, Historical Study of the Development and Changes of Higher Vocational and Technical Education It divides into 2 periods: before World War II and after World War II This chapter mainly talked about the features and reasons of the development of HVET, as well as got some conclusions of the research. They are the drive of developing HVET experiencing 4 stages, from social needs to economic needs to educational needs to combined the former three. HVTE generated and facilitated not mainly by economic needs, but educational needs. There is historical reasons for the HVTE nowadays elite trend The shakes between school-based HVTE and work-based HVET have some historical reasons Diversity is a principle of developing HVTEChapter Three, Case Study of the Development and Changes of Higher Vocational and Technical Education It's mainly about the introduction of the HVTE in the US, Australia, Germany, the UK, Japan and Taiwan(China), including the history line, the features and the trends of the development and change of HTVE so as to provide a foundation for international comparisonChapter Four. International Study of the Development and Changes of Higher Vocational and Technical Education. This chapter is to study some important issues and trends m the development and changes of global HVTE after World War II. The issues have been selected as follows: the 2 key thoughts which influencing the development and changes of HVTE after World War II, the impact of traditional social cultures affecting the selection of HVTE mode, the main roles the key institutions play in the running of HVTE, the development and changes of the curriculum reform in HVTE after World War II, the development and changes of the philosophy in HVTE after World War II.
