Its literary construction arrangement is as follows:As a preface, the chapter 1 puts forward the necessity of the research of the entrepreneurial university, introduces summarily the main contents, framework and methods, it summarizes the relative literatures.Chapter 2 elaborates the first and the second academic revolution and the changes of the university modes in the view of the history of the university development. The two academic revolution respectively gives birth to two new university modes, i.e. research university and entrepreneurial university. The second academic revolution also brings the change for the essence of the science research, i.e. the differentiation of the academic science and the entrepreneurial science. After the description of the four phases in which the entrepreneurial university grows, Chapter 3 redefines the entrepreneurial university on the basis of the definition of the entrepreneurship that Schumpeter and Drucker has put forward and the descriptions of the entrepreneurial university that Etzkowitz and Clark have given. Second, it points out the mode 2 of knowledge production and the process of technology development and transfer of the entrepreneurial university. Thirdly, it explores the university-industry-government triple helix which is the platform the entrepreneurial university grows and runs on. Lastly, based on the previous research in this chapter, we offer the a useful model of the mechanism.Chapter 5 identifies the instructional experiences by which the research universities successfully transforms into the entrepreneurial universities. Then, it takes 100 acknowledged American research universities as cases, by using the factor analysis and the clustering analysis methods concludes 4 sorts of research universities, i.e. entrepreneurial university I , entrepreneurial university II, academic research university and common research university. On the foundation of the qualitative analysis We puts forward the benchmarks of entrepreneurial university. In the end, we compare our "985 Project" universities to the 4 sorts of American research universities, and offer useful suggestions for the development of our country's universities.Chapter 6 summarizes the contributing conclusions of the dissertation, and then makes further prospect about the research of the entrepreneurial university.
