The modern theory for education evaluation holds the view that education evaluation is for the purpose of man's development. The essential for realizing the purpose of education evaluation lies on the understanding of "man" in the evaluation, and the choice of proper approaches to evaluation that can improve the man's development. By examining the reality of education evaluation, we have found a lot of phenomenon about which people are worried and beneath which there exist serious tendencies to managerialism , utilitarianism, scientificlism. The tendencies that mentioned above make the original and true purposes of education obscured. Aiming at the various tendencies existing in education evaluation, some theorists furthered the related researches, and clarified the purposes of education evaluation in their research. However, they could do nothing while being confronted with the reality that education evaluation succumbed to managerialism , utilitarianism, scientificlism, and therefore lost the original and true purposes of it. What's more, there was lack of sound reflections on how to promote man's development through education evaluation. In the author's view, to eliminate the various adverse tendencies completely and revert to the original and true pursuit of education evaluation, the key is to restructure the basis value of education evaluation, and understand the "manl" in education evaluation properly, and choose the proper approaches to evaluation that can promote man's development. Survival theory provides a new perspective for education evaluation. Survival theory focuses on the idiographic individual's survival, and argues that the survival of human beings is neither an survival of objects, nor survival of abstract man, but survival of idiographic individuals. Survival theory follows the principle that the subject and the object are indeed coexistent and syncretic. The survival of idiographic individual is concrete and not abstract, and the meaning of the survival of the individual lies on its active pursuit of life value; the individual coexists with other people and the nature in harmony; the survival of individuals is a forming and transcending survival, is always ongoing and can't be completed under a certain historical period. Survival theory develops the presumption of idiographic individual and the cognition fundamental that the subject and object coexist, and also establishes the value tendency that education should focus on the idiographic individual, which not only helps eliminate the various adverse tendencies, but also provides a new theory as fundamental for understanding the "man" to be evaluated in education and "promoting man's development". Based on the presumption of idiographic individual, this dissertation develops the view of education evaluation toward idiographic individual, which is in contrast with the education evaluation toward abstract man. When promoting man's development, in accordance with the presumption of abstract man. The education evaluation toward abstract man transforms the general objects of man's development into the goals and standards of education evaluation, and controls man's development toward the ideal goals through. Implementing education evaluation toward idiographic individual doesn't mean disciplining through exterior goals, but means helping and inspiring the individual make full use of their own intelligence to choose the goals that fit for them with the reference of the general objects and requirements. The view of education evaluation toward idiographic individual can not only reflect the original and true purpose of education, the requirements of education development, and the conformity with the development logic of education evaluation, but also can fully realize the purposes of education evaluation whose purpose is to promote man's development. The view of education evaluation toward idiographic individuals interprets some essential problems in education evaluation anew. As for the view on the purpose of education evaluation, it is regarded that the purposes of education evaluation are as following; to promote man's development, and to help the individual grows up with interaction with others and the environment. As for the view on the standard of education evaluation, it is said that the criteria of education evaluation is not an abstract outcome of exterior design, but gradually comes into being and develops in the practice of education evaluation, with the joint of education reforms and education evaluation reforms. In addition, The education evaluation toward idiographic individual argues that, to fully realize such a kind of evaluation, it is necessary to show the subjective status of the individual, to guarantee one's freedom, to ensure one's right of making choice, participating, making judgments, and interpreting; to prepare sufficient resources for evaluation, and to present harmonious evaluating culture and common criteria.
