The activity of"open kindergarten day for parents"means that kindergartens open all kinds of activities in a special day for parents. By making researches on it, the author of the dissertation explores its characteristics, analyses its causes of success and failure, and offers some proposals for raising the quality of open kindergarten day, which is necessary to help kindergarten make effective use of family resources, optimize curriculum, and promote development of teachers, parents and children.The dissertation summarizes the relevant literature by both Chinese and foreign scholars on the theme of"open kindergarten day", assesses its advantages and disadvantages, and interprets its enlightenment for this study. And this thesis introduces the post-modern perspective on curriculum, the bio-ecological theory and the theory of social interaction, which is a very important base to study systematically open kindergarten day.Four major approaches applied in the dissertation are questionnaire-survey, interviews, observation, and documentary analysis, which accumulate a great amount of information on open kindergarten day from directors, teachers, parents, the other educators and children. Both quantitative and qualitative research tactics are adopted with a triangulation of multiple methods and sources in this study. Therefore, both reliability and validity of the study are enhanced.The thesis approaches open kindergarten day from different angle. On the one hand, the research explores thoroughly the activity preparations, process, assessment and the views of value about open kindergarten day. On the other hand, this research studies concretely the ideas and behaviors of early childhood professionals, parents and children. As a result, the research shows clearly achievements (for example, definite goals, rational structure, multi-evaluators and specificity), problems (for instance, poor environment, dull organization, simplistic evaluation criteria and play acting), crucial factors (for example, views of management, views of education, the mode of interacting with children, stress, educational laws, evaluation criteria, daily activities, kindergarten conditions) and many functions (for instance, fostering children's physical, language, emotional and social development ) in open kindergarten day.The thesis makes some viable suggestions for improving educational management organization, evaluation agency, research institute, teacher training institution and kindergarten. These suggestions aim at putting together the power of education and working cooperatively to improve the quality of open kindergarten day.In this dissertation, there are some creativity in research topic, base, methods, contents, theories and suggestions. At the same time, there are some limitations of the research in subjects and contents. Hence, the researcher plans to solve a few difficult problems in the future.
