The key factor of the education success is teacher's quality. In the course of education transformation, teacher training and professional development are important research domains in basic education. In the 21st century, biology would be the center of the science, with character of rapidly updating, subject-crossed, science foreland's breakthrough. The future starves for high quality teachers to cultivate excellent students.This thesis studies the theories domestic and overseas in the different four levels of teacher education, subject education, biology pedagogy, biology teacher education. Then, it's researched in different levels, using the measures of questionnaire investigate, demonstration, case study. It's put forward that the countermeasures of professional development and the key factors of becoming expert teacher in middle school.The content and results includes four parts: Part I is the status about the research and continuing education biology teacher in middle school from many provinces, including the basic background, affection status, research background, continuing education curriculum, study mode, etc . Part II is about state-leveled outstanding biology teacher training in Hunan province in 2007, which wants to know about the students' opinions on the organizing, training project, teachers, curriculums, and the students' gains as well. Part III is about the demonstration research on the outstanding biology teacher training in Zhaoqing city, Guangdong province. Part IV refers to four excellent biology teachers' case study, which anatomies the teachers' specialty closely. The conclusion lies on two parts:1. The key factors turning into expert teacher(1)The degree devoting into the career; (2) Fine emotion status; (3) Cherishing the profession growing sticking point; (4) Well-knit humanities quality and excellent logical-mathematics intelligence; (5) based upon the profession and performing education research constantly; (6) Both self-development and professional training being the same important; (7) Contacting with college closely.2. Countermeasures on biology teacher professional development(1) Self-development strategies:①Training the consciousness ofself-development;②Building up ideal of long-life study; (2) INSET--the most effective approach of biology teacher development :①Developing pluralistically and constructing corresponding models;②Stepping out education informationization and constructing modern long-distant teacher education;③Concerning the teacher's emotion to embody humanistic care;④Based on the requires of biology teacher and biology teaching in middle school, optimizing the training content linking biology teaching;⑤strengthening the research and practice on biology experiment;⑥Enhancing the case teaching contacting with biology teaching in middle school; (3) Courses improving biology teacher's professional development.
