"Teacher as researcher" has become synonymous with teachers' specialized development, and has become a part of basic literacy and the basic display form. As a fast developing research field and a hot issue of teacher education, "teachers as researchers" has being paid much attention.Compared with the theoretical studies, the study on practice of "teachers as researchers" is very weak, especially the research on specific subject. At present, As the lack of the study on practice of teachers teaching research, the practice of teachers teaching research appeared confused and wandering, and even hindered its further development. Then it is a critical period to shift the theory to the practical research.From the perspective of physics, this study discusses the developing characteristics and the main influencing factors of physical teaching research of middle school teachers through the analysis of a large number of the demonstrable data from different aspects of middle school teachers. This paper is composed of three researches: I, analysis of current situation of physical teaching research of middle school teachers; II. analysis of the developing characteristics of the physical teaching research of middle school teachers; III, the analysis of the influencing factors of the physical teaching research of middle school teachers.First of all, this paper investigated 765 teachers in middle schools coming from seven provinces by using self-made questionnaire. The questionnaire includes the attitude and awareness, quality, environmental support, the situation of teachers participated in teaching research and the effectiveness of teaching research. In order to get the empirical data of the developing characteristics of physical teaching researches, the author analyzed the published papers in "Physics Teacher", "Journal of Physics Teaching" since the 80's. The samples mainly selected 2447 papers, including 1827 papers which are totally completed or partly completed by middle school teachers in three periods: 1980-1983, 1989-1990 and 2005 -2007. The contents analysis includes two categories: the research contents and the research methods. The enumeration of the content analysis is set by the author on literature study. On the basis of the statistical analysis and comparison of the contents and methods of the papers in the three periods, the author summarized the characteristics of the research and the development. Finally, the main influencing factors are discussed and analyzed, combined with the investigation of the status and the influencing factors of teaching research, as well as the interviews with middle school teachers and the staff of teaching research.In this paper, the main conclusions of the study are as follows:(1) The number of teachers who participate in physical teaching research is rapidly increasing; middle school teachers are becoming the main force of physical teaching research. On the basis of the statistics of the two journals in different periods, we found that the percentage of papers totally completed or partly completed by middle school teachers was 47.2% in the 1980-1983, that the percentage increased to 68.6 % in the 1989-1990, and that the percentage increased to 80.4% in the 2005-2007. And we found in the investigation and research, 78.3% of middle school teachers have published papers on teaching research (including formal published or exchanges in the meetings, revenue compilations), and 74.8% of middle school teachers have presided over or participated in research projects (including national level, provincial level, etc.).(2) The contents of teaching research of middle school teachers have different characteristics in different periods, and are continuously expanding. a) In different periods, the component parts of contents are different. And as time goes on, the contents of teaching research are growing richer and more comprehensive. b) The contents of physical teaching research have different characteristics in different periods. In the 1980-1983, the content of research is characteristic of attaching importance to Experiments Study. In the 1989-1990, the content is the characteristic that Teaching Research was paid much attention. In the 2005-2007, the content is characteristic of diversification. In a word, it has the characteristic that much attention is paid on Test, Analysis of Exercises, as well as Review Guidance. c) The main component parts of contents are characteristic of stability. The proportion of some enumerations, such as Discussion and Contention, Analysis of Exercises, Review Guidance, Improving the Physical Experiment, Teaching Aid to Make, General Analysis of the Physical Problem, Teaching Notes, Research of Teaching and Teaching process, is larger. d) As time goes on, some researches of physical teaching of middle school teachers increased constantly, and some declined constantly, while others showed their fluctuation. The researches contents, such as Examination, Review Guidance, Teaching Materials, Teaching Design and Analysis of Cases, continue to strengthen, especially in the fluctuating trend of the research on the examination. The middle school teachers' researches on Physical Problems, Improving Physical Experiment, Teaching Aid to Make and Experimental Teaching continue to weaken; especially the proportion of the study on Experimental Teaching is dropping largely. The researches on Experiments of Teaching Methods and Teaching Model, Analysis of Exercises, Discussion and Contention, Physics of the History, Cultivation of Ideation and Ability, Theory of Evaluation, Explanation of Physical Phenomena, Teaching Notes, Teaching and Teaching Process, and Cultivation Study of Values, Emotion and Attitude present the trend of fluctuation. In the 1989-1990, some contents are paid much attention, such as Experiments of Teaching Methods and Teaching Model, Cultivation of Ideation and Ability, Teaching Notes, Study of values, Emotion and Attitude, Theory of Evaluation, Teaching and Teaching Process. In the other two periods, the contents including Analysis of Exercises, Discussion and Contention, the History of Physics, and Physical Explanation of Natural Phenomena were paid attention to.(3) The research methods of middle school teachers are gradually changing and developing. As time goes on, the types of research methods are increasing; the research methods are being changed from the simple, empirical to the professional research methods in education, and gradually absorbing some professional research methods in education. Now, the main research methods of the middle school teachers are summing-up of experience with the usual methods, such as Physical Experiment Methods, Mathematical Methods, Narrative Methods, and so on. In recent years, the methods of teaching theoretical analysis, literature method have increased, but the methods of investigation, comparative method, and educational experimentation are very rare.(4) The factors influencing physical teaching research of the middle school teachers include social factors, personal factors, and the theory of physical teaching research. The social factors are: curriculum reform, school-based teaching research, title request, the exam-oriented education, research funds; the personal factors are: personal interest, ability of composition, research experience. The theory of physical teaching research is a special impact factor, and it plays an important role in promoting the development of physical teaching research, but it lags behind the practice of teaching research, and fails to play an active role in the theoretical leading and practical guidance.
