Educational communication is an intrinsic type of human behavior. Boosted by material, energy and information currents, it realizes the transmission, interaction and definition between communicators and recipients in accordance with certain goals, standards and approaches.Adult educational communication aims to all the on-the-job learners or citizens with working experience and is initiated and guided by learners' information demand. Communicators prioritize information flexibly with regard to the recipients'demand. The beneficial results are the expansion of knowledge acquired by both sides and the promotion of skills and social values. As a type of social behavior, the ecology of adult educational communication is man-made.Its evolution is influenced by policies, investment and management, social and economic demands, cultural and social environment, the collaboration among its constructive elements and the coordination and balance among all the components of macro educational communication system. To keep its evolution in a dynamic balance is the premise of function optimization.Currently, adult educational communication is facing a serial of ecological challenges in China. It's the purpose of this dissertation to contribute to the building of life educational system and learning-oriented society, to update relevant academic perceptions and to do in-depth research on those ecological challenges.Firstly, the horizon of educational research which was restricted to schools in academic history is broadened.Secondly, the idea of mass educational communication is originated. It is argued that education means beneficial info-communication in a broad sense and learning equals to beneficial info-reception and hence the organic integration of education and communication and the more scientific study of those challenges.Thirdly, a customization model of adult educational communication is formulated and justified. The linear sequence of this model is:recipients' demands→educational communicators→educational information→educational media→satisfaction of recipients'demands. Comparing with the traditional school communication model (communicator→communication contents→communication media→recipients), it is the recipients rather than the communicators who initiate communication activities.Based on the above work, this dissertation addresses the ecological imbalance of adult educational communication, analyzes the internal and external factors that lead to the imbalance and deterioration and explores the rebalancing approaches and maximization of communication benefits in an ecological perspective.
